3 Spooky Fun Halloween Books

We’re only a few days away from Halloween! Can you believe it? Last year we shared with you two great Halloween books for kids, and today we want to focus on three more. I like reading books with my little one and finding the perfect books for the season can be tough at times. However, these three picture books are perfect spooky fun reads for your little ones ages 3-6.

THE GHOSTS GO SCARINGby Chrissy Bozik and Patricia Storms: It’s Halloween night and the ghosts are out of the shadows and ready to scare! Just in time for fall festivities, The Ghosts Go Scaring doubles as both a Halloween tale and a counting book. An enjoyable Halloween take on “The Ants Go Marching,” the sing-song nature of the text makes this a great read-aloud before bedtime and the perfect devilish story for fans of this special holiday!

BRUNHILDA’S BACKWARDS DAY by Shawna J. C. Tenney: Brunhilda the witch loves making trouble. As soon as she leaves the house, she begins to spread her misery. But one night, Brunhilda’s cat makes trouble instead. When Brunhilda wakes up that next morning, she is on the right side of the bed. The day has gone completely backwards. What will happen when Brunhilda casts her all-time favorite misery-inducing spells? This is a silly story about how sometimes being nice can be more rewarding than being mean.

I WANT TO EAT YOUR BOOKS by Karin Lefranc and Tyler Parker: There’s a zombie in the school, but he doesn’t want brains… He wants books! When he catches a whiff of the school library, the children need to come up with a plan fast before all their books become history! This monster book is silly and fun, with a strong message about kindness and friendship. This is the perfect monster book for little ones who want a thrill but aren’t looking for anything too scary!

The Ghosts go Scaring was a truly fun read and Madison and I enjoyed reading it together. She loved pointing out the new ghosts and got to count along as well. This is a great introduction to those learning their numbers and counting. Since this doubled as both a sing-along and counting book, this was a true hit.

Brunhilda’s Backwards Day teaches that it’s ok to be nice and that you don’t always have to be mean, like Brunhilda could be. Madison just loved the illustration and the story and had me read it to her twice. You know a book is a must read when your little one asks you to read it AGAIN!

I Want to Eat Your Books teaches your kids that you shouldn’t jump to conclusions. Maybe it’s one adults should read as well. Don’t let the cover fool you, it’s not that scary and is a great book not just for Halloween but all year round.

All these books are perfect to add to your Halloween collection with vibrant illustrations and the stories are all adorable. So pick them up before Halloween gets here!
