The Most Beautiful States to Visit in the Fall

Kentucky

It is no secret that Kentucky, The Bluegrass State, is on the list of the most beautiful fall states to visit. Kentucky is well known for its lakes, scenic forests, and sweeping views. While the beauty of Kentucky can be seen throughout the year, fall makes the area extra remarkable.

Kentucky offers many different byways giving you the chance to experience some of the best fall foliage Kentucky has to offer. One area to feature that offers a spectacular display of color is the Woodlands Trace National Scenic Byway. Located in between the Kentucky Lake and Lake Barley, the area gives you access to some of the most gorgeous views.

Many of the parks and lakes give you the opportunity to see the scenery up close with hiking, camping, and exploring. You can also stay at some of the several state parks lodges to experience the autumn colors the state has to offer.

Arkansas

One of the most beautiful places to visit in Arkansas in the fall is the Ozarks. With its rolling plateaus and beautiful landscapes, there is no shortage of beautiful fall foliage.

Arkansas is also home to a few scenic highways and byways that give you a close-up view of the beautiful fall colors. The Talimena Scenic Highway 88 is a 54-mile highway that takes you on a scenic drive through the Ouachita National Forest.

It is also home to the Scenic 7 which is nearly 300 miles long and takes you through the state so that you can see the dense forests and beautiful valleys that are full of fall colors.

Maryland

Fall in Maryland is best experienced by visiting one of the many lakes. Deep Creek Lake is probably one of the most well-known lakes in Maryland because it offers infinite amounts of fall colors and photo opportunities.

Maryland also provides you the opportunity to experience the beautiful fall season through its scenic routes and overlooks. Near Backbone Mountain, the Rt. 219 Scenic Overlook is located along the National Scenic Byway and is around 43 miles reaching from Richwood to US Route 219. The scenic route offers four different scenic overlooks to provide a comfortable resting stop with some pretty outstanding views for you to enjoy.
