20 Activities For Your Family’s Fall Bucket List 🍁

Bringing picture-perfect foliage, sweater weather, and the start of the holiday season, fall is a great time to make memories with family. There are tons of opportunities to have fun together, but it’s easy to lose track of time and fail to take advantage of those season-specific activities when you aren’t focused on making them happen.

One of the best ways to guarantee some great memories for your family is to make a fall bucket list. Sit down together and decide what you’d like to do to make the most of the fall. If you aren’t sure where to start, or you’d like a little inspiration, I’m here to help! Here are 20 activities you can easily add to your family’s fall bucket list:

01 – Admire the fall foliage. Find a scenic drive, roll down the windows, and stop as often as you’d like to snap some photos.

02 – Visit a pumpkin patch or fall festival. A quick search through the Events section on Facebook is a great way to see what’s coming up in your area!

03 – Rake a pile of leaves – and jump into them! Embrace your inner child and have a little fun!

04 – Go apple or berry picking. If you live near an orchard, this is a fun activity for the whole family and a prime spot for a fall photoshoot.

05 – Take a hike on a crisp fall morning. A brisk morning stroll through the neighborhood or a local park counts if you don’t have easy access to a hike.

06 – Snuggle up by a bonfire at night. Bonus points for roasting some marshmallows for s’ mores.

07 – Bake a fall-inspired pie. Apple, pumpkin, and sweet potato pie are all great choices!

08 – Get crafty. From wreaths of autumn leaves and pinecones to cozy homemade soaps and candles, there are lots of fall-inspired crafts to enjoy during the fall.

09 – Go on a ghost tour (or graveyard tour). This is a perfect way to enjoy the fall for fans of Halloween and the spookier side of things.

10 – Plan a fall photoshoot. If you don’t already have a photo picked out for your Christmas card, now’s your chance!

11 – Contribute toward a good cause. Whether you choose to donate time, goods, or money, take some time to help those less fortunate as the holiday season approaches.

12 – Sip some apple cider. Keep an eye out at your favorite grocery store or farmer’s market during the fall for the first jugs of apple cider.

13 – Run a 5k as a family. If your family is into fitness – or wants to be – consider signing up for a 5k. You can find costumed races around Halloween, turkey trots on Thanksgiving, and plenty of others throughout the season to run.

14 – Roast pumpkin seeds. For a tasty and nutritious snack that’ll make your home smell delicious, roast up a batch or two of pumpkin seeds.

15 – Watch your favorite scary movie. When the leaves start to fall, and there’s a chill in the air, there’s no better time to pop a bowl of popcorn and revisit your favorite spooky film.

16 – Decorate for the autumn. A few candles, blankets, and throw pillows can transform your space into one that’s ready for the season.

17 – DIY your Halloween costumes. With a little planning and a bright idea, you’ll have a blast making your own costume.

18 – Try a new slow cooker recipe. From warm apple cider to flavorful chilis and delicious roasts, you can cook a number of different dishes in a slow cooker. Pick out a new recipe to sample as a family and see if it becomes a new favorite!

19 – Play some cornhole. Called ‘bags’ in some parts of the country, this beanbag-tossing game is a popular feature at tailgating events. It may look silly, but you’ll be surprised how much fun you have!

20 – Host friends and family. Fall is the perfect time to open your home and put your hosting skills to practice. Whether you host a football watch party, a Halloween bash, or a Friendsgiving potluck, your attendees will appreciate your attention to detail.
