20 Minute Bow Tie Pasta Alfredo

It’s Recipe Wednesday and we have another delicious recipe to share with you. While we shared a delightful appetizer earlier this morning, now I want to share with you something that will be perfect for dinner. As a military mom there are days when I get home very late from work. I do work some very crazy hours and sometimes I only have a very short time to prepare dinner. Sometimes sandwiches just aren’t going to work although the kids would prefer that. I prefer my kids to have something a bit more for dinner. So what do you do when you’re running short on time? You make our delicious 20 minute Bow Tie Pasta Alfredo. The kids are big fans of pasta and I also have a daughter who is vegetarian so this works for everyone.

Yields: 8 servings

Ready in 20 minutes

Ingredients:

1 (16 oz) package bow tie pasta

1 cup heavy cream

1⁄2 cup butter

1⁄2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 cup fresh parsley, chopped

1 teaspoon salt

1⁄4 teaspoon ground black pepper

1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

Directions:

1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 12-14 minutes or until al dente, drain.

2. Combine heavy cream and butter in a Dutch oven or large, heavy saucepan over medium heat. Heat until butter melts, stirring occasionally; be careful not to bring mixture to a boil.

3. Stir in Parmesan cheese, parsley, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Toss with cooked pasta and serve immediately.

Notes: This Alfredo recipe is excellent with the addition of veggies (chopped asparagus or broccoli), chicken or shrimp. The sauce also works well as a base for white pizza.
