Essential Baby Shower Gifts For the Expectant Mom (Fresh Air Crib Liner)

Disclaimer: I am participating in this campaign as a member of The Niche Parent Network & Conference. Although I received compensation and product, all opinions are my own.

A baby shower is a joyous occasion for everyone involved. The expectant mother gets to look forward to being a parent, while guests get to share in this joy. As a guest, it can sometimes be hard to know what to get for the new mom. Even if she has registered for gifts, it can be hard to narrow down your choices to something she’ll really need. If you’re having a hard time deciding what to buy, here are a few essential baby shower gifts every expectant mother needs.

Diapers and Wipes

If you have children, you know how many diapers babies can go through, which is why this is a wonderful gift for soon-to-be mothers! If you’re headed to a baby shower and don’t know what to get, a box of diapers is sure to be appreciated. If you can, try to buy different sizes of diapers. Many people tend to buy only newborn, but sizes 1-2 will be needed pretty quickly. Also along with those diapers you are going to need wipes. As they go hand in hand they make the perfect gift.

Diaper Bag

Remember that baby will not always be a baby so when shopping for a diaper bag look for one that can stand the test of time. One that you can use all the way through toddlerhood and beyond. A diaper bag can store some of those wipes and diapers that the new mom will be getting and is essential for those first baby visits to the doctor where you may need a change of clothing and extra bottle feeding.

Baby Sling

A great gift all moms-to-be should have is a baby sling or carrier. Babies love to be held and mothers love to get some cuddle time in. It’s a win-win situation! Although there’s nothing like sitting in a rocking chair snuggling that precious newborn, it doesn’t really allow for mommy to get anything done around the house. A baby sling gives mom the ability to hold that baby close while still being able to get things done.

Swaddle Blankets

While they are great for swaddling they are also great for those burping sessions where your little one has mastered the art of spit up. And one of them may eventually become that blanket that your little one can't live without.

The Soothe TIME Fresh Air Crib Liner

One gift that most people don't consider is a crib liner. The Soothe TIME Fresh Air Crib Liner by Just Born not only protects your mattress but makes changing your baby's sheets a breeze. This Crib Liner also eliminates the need for a crib bumper which is no longer recommended since there have been reports of baby's arms and legs getting caught between them. The liner also has breathable mesh sides which helps keeps baby's arms and legs inside the crib while providing air flow for a healthier sleep. Now moms and dads will have less to worry about and be able to spend more time bonding with their little one.

The Fresh Air Crib Liner is now available at Target and you can receive a $5.00 rebate while rebates last. They are also available in quite a few designs and prints. There will sure be one that matches your decor.

Also, don't forget to spoil mom before she brings home that bundle of joy. After the baby is born, it could be awhile before she can get out to pamper herself. You can help give her a little “me” time by buying her a spa day or pedicure/manicure package. She’s sure to enjoy this special gift.

How would you like to win a Fresh Air Crib Liner? One of you my delightful readers will win a SootheTIME Fresh Air Crib Liner for either yourself or to give as a gift. Winner will be randomly selected by PunchTab and will have 48 hours to respond to the email sent. Failure to respond will mean forfeiting your prize and a new winner will be chosen.

  16. That's a lot of great ideas. In our circle of friends there is always a baby shower and at the same time the boys are doing a diaper party. The mom-to-be generally has a nice supply of diapers to get her through many weeks/months.

  17. We had a similar crib liner. It was so great! I usually make a diaper cake and include small essentials that mom will need.

  32. I like to give off the registry and typically like to get something personalized for the nursery, but I supplement with practical. Since I'm not a mother myself, I'm clueless as what to buy, this is a great help.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I always check the baby registry before making my purchase. If the mom-to-be doesn't have a registry, I usually go with the basics - outfits, bibs, baby wipes, and diapers.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I like to give diaper cakes and homemade receiving blankets. I think I bought something like the crib liner for my son but either I lost it or returned it and we never used it. I just hope I don't find it soon. My baby is already 2.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I remember I got a lot of the same things at our baby shower. I would love to give something that someone doesn't think of, but that will come in handy!

  41. I am always amazed at how many stupid things people give a new mom at her baby shower. Like she walks away with a million newborn sized clothing items the baby will quickly grow out of. I always try to give wipes and diapers, and other things a new mom needs but probably doesn't think about- a thermometer, teething tablets, those snot sucker things. All very important to have on hand!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I love the idea of giving crib liners for baby shower gifts! There's usually so many other things than the essentials!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I wish I knew about baby slings when my daughter was a baby. That crib liner sounds fabulous, too!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Diapers is one of the things I always give at baby showers. These are all great ideas.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  46. My son still sleeps in his crib and could surely use this! Lets just say I need to change his sheets all too often.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Awesome gift ideas. I'm saving these for the next baby shower I attend.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I think a crib liner is a must! thanks for these thoughtful suggestions.

    ReplyDelete
  49. These are all great gift ideas! I think a crib liner or bumper is something that every crib needs but a lot of people try to skimp on.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I love making diaper cakes for the new mom because they always act as a decoration as well!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I love to make homemade things so I'd probably make something for baby, and mommy too.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I make homemade wash clothes, burp rags and bibs.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I agree that swaddle blankets are all-around helpful! Any new mom would be delighted to receive your ideas at her shower.

    ReplyDelete
  54. When I go to a baby shower I usually bring a cute outfit and a pack of diapers, or something the mama really needs.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I like to bring a gift set with a little bit of everything, diapers, wipes, pacifiers, lotions, a onesie.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I have actually never been to a baby shower other than my own. But, I would probably take a favorite book and larger sized diapers as those were some of my favorites!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I always give Zipadee-zips to my friends. The swaddle just works and is so practical!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I suggest that people would give useful gifts such baby bibs because these thing can last a long time and it is very useful in every meal time.

    ReplyDelete
  59. For baby shower gifts, I must agree with the bibs because as I have noticed most mom uses them every time they feed their babies and I will just add up a non-contact digital thermometer? Why? Because it's one of the baby essentials that a mom-to-be must have and we all know how useful it is in our daily life.
