Discover These Dog-Friendly Destinations

Everyone has their vacation preference! Maybe you’re a tropical paradise kinda person, sipping cocktails on a white beach with clear turquoise water gently swaying against the sand.

Maybe snow-covered mountains, skis, and hot cider are more your thing! Or you could be the outdoor, nature type, who loves roughing it in a tent and making smores around the campfire.

Whatever your favorite vacation is, the great news is that there will be dog-friendly destinations. It’s easier than ever for you pup to join you on your adventures! Here are our favorite dog-friendly spots in the country.

Snow: Bend, Oregon

If your idea of the perfect vacation is snowy hills and crisp, cold air, then Bend, Oregon would be an exciting spot for you and your pup to take a trip to. Just a few years ago, it was named DogTown USA by Dog Fancy Magazine!

If skiing or snowboarding is on your vacation agenda, you don’t have to leave your dog in the hotel room while you hit the slopes! Kapka, Wanoga, and Edison Sno-Parks are pup-friendly. Your dog can join you on the cross-country ski trails or you can go snowshoeing together.

The many pet-friendly hotels provide extras like dog beds and bowls, treat samples, and even local dog beer, Dawg Grog. When you need to fuel up, the 40+ dog-friendly restaurants around the area will be waiting to accommodate you and your fluff!

Tropical: San Juan, Puerto Rico

Nothing says “summer” like the beach! If the tropical vibe is what you’re craving, take your pup along to San Juan for a vacation filled with sun, sand, and sea air.

Pet-friendly activities are many in this beautiful place! You and your pooch can wander the beach and take a swim without restriction on Hobie Cat Beach and Cabbage Beach. Your pup will appreciate a visit to Condado Pet Park, where they can do an agility course or simply romp around.

There’s an abundance of pet-friendly hotels and restaurants in the area, where you can go for a refreshing cocktail with your fluff by your side.

Forest: Lake Tahoe, California

Whether you love camping or cabin life, Lake Tahoe has something for all dogs and dog parents. Choose from cabin-style accommodation or pitch a tent in a camping area.

There’s a great mix of trail hiking and beach activities. Some beaches require dogs to be leashed, but you’ll need to double-check before going.

Swimming, fishing, hiking, and even a cooler experience at the Tahoe XC Ski Park are some of the options you can take your dog along to.

Kid-Friendly: Colorado Springs, Colorado

If you’ve got kids as well as dogs, Colorado Springs is a family-friendly spot that the entire group will enjoy.

Find accommodation that suits your style, from comfy lodges to fancier hotels to resorts. Take a Jeep tour as a family, trek up a mountain, or visit the Manitou Cliff Dwellings

For a true family dining experience, pop in to the Pub Dog restaurant. It’s the only one in the state to allow pups at the tables with their family inside the restaurant.

Art & Architecture: Asheville, North Carolina

If arts, culture, and architecture are an important part of travel for you, Asheville, North Carolina is a spot you should visit.

You can spend time shopping the local stores for quaint offerings, immerse yourself in a unique arts scene, or listen to some live music.

Aside from artsy experiences, you and your fluff can take a hike, go kayaking together, or take a stroll through the luxurious and beautiful gardens of Biltmore Estate
