Citrus Lane June 2013 Subscription Box

So once again we’re reviewing a subscription box, but this time from Citrus Lane. We originally ordered this box in May and were supposed to receive the May box but was sent an email saying that they couldn’t deliver so would send the June box. Although we were somewhat disappointed we waited patiently for our June box to show up and it finally did.

Our box was delivered by our trusty mail carrier and left on our doorstep. We live in a residential neighborhood so we weren’t worried that it would disappear. The box was fairly light when mommy picked it up and she said “is there really anything in there?”. Of course they wouldn’t send an empty box, would they?

We opened and the first thing we saw was the lovely yellow tissue paper a card listing the theme and what was in the box. This makes my review so much easier because I can now list what’s on the card with a little bit of whether its a hit or miss for me. Here goes my review:

The card read:

Hello from Citrus Lane! Summer is upon us so this month we’ve picked items to prepare you for a season of fun in the sun. Whether your plans include spending time at the beach, pool or park you’ll be ready with the essentials – protection from the sun, a sand toy, and a delicious grab-and-go snack for when you’re out and about. Here comes the sun!

Sun Protection Hat from iPlay – $12.99

A Citrus Lane Favorite! We love iPlay’s Sun Protection Hats for their adorable design and because they provide the maximum protection from the harmful rays of the sun. Even if your little one is wearing sunscreen, dermatologists recommend wearing a hat whenever possible. Made from UV-protective fabric that’s rated 50 SPF+, the wide brim provides allover coverage to shield delicate skin and prevent sun damage, while the microfiber fabric helps keep kiddos cool.

This came in a size 6-18 months and the fit is a little big on my 16 month old head but that’s ok. Since this is summer and we recently did a post about protecting your toddlers from the sun this box really came in handy for us. I loved the hat and can’t wait to wear it on my next outing. Did I mention that this hat is also reversible. How cute is that?

Sand Toy from Haba – $4.74

Summer and sand toys go hand in hand. That’s why we are so excited to send you one of our favorite finds from the German toy company, Haba. Winners of nearly every German and American toy award around, these toys are great fun no matter what time of year it is – use them in the pool or at the beach when the weather is warm and in the bath when it’s cold outside. Made in Germany from PVC-free plastic.

Since we have a sandbox this was also great for us. I plan on using this as soon as mommy lets me back into my sandbox. I love also that I can also use it in my bath tub when the summer is over.

Happy Tot Plus from Happy Family – $1.79

We’re always on the lookout for healthy grab-and-go snack. Happy Tots hits the mark with the ultimate superfood. These all-organic fruit and veggie pouches have the added nutrition your growing toddler needs, whit choline for brain development and healthy eyes, and the gluten-free grains, salba, for nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids, protein and calcium. Each delicious treat is free from gluten, soy and dairy.

They must have known that we’re in love with the Happy Family foods. I’ve been eating them for as long as I can remember eating solids. Mommy loves buying organic foods for me and this was one of the first brands that she got and I just love them. The pouches makes it easy for me to hold onto and eat and this encouraged my use of a straw when I was much younger. This was the Blueberry, Apple and Purple Carrot flavor and it the first thing I grabbed from the box.

We will be hosting a Happy Family giveaway in the next couple of days so stay tuned to my FB page when it goes live.

Sunny Sunscreen SPF35 from Episencial – $4.15

Summer is here and it’s time to play outside! We understand the challenge of finding a sunscreen that’s both effective and safe. Rest assured, your little one is protected from the harmful UV rays with Episencial’s Sunny Sunscreen. Made for sensitive skin using minerals instead of harsh chemicals, it moisturizes while it protects. Naturally water-resistance for up to 80 minutes of sprinkler-proof fun.

We’ve never used this brand before but love that it is Broad Spectrum 35 which is recommended. Since I also have sensitive skin this is perfect since it states that it is safe for face and body. It is a Citrus Lane exclusive which comes in a 1.5oz tube and is Eric Carle branded. We love Eric Carle books and we look forward to using this.

Grand total of my entire box was $23.67

We loved everything. Can you tell my favorite?

Citrus Lane boxes are normally $25 including shipping but if you join today using my invite you get $10 off your first box. I was looking forward to a new book but didn’t get that but I was not entirely too disappointed with my first box since we also got $10 off our first box. We look forward to getting my July box. Next month’s box decide whether mommy and I keep our subscription or not.
