Help Put a Stop to Childhood Hunger & Hawaiian Grilled Cheese Sandwich ~ #BarSserves

This is my 5 year old daughter Madison. Madison has never been hungry a day in her life, but unlike Madison, there are many children who face hunger on a daily basis. Bar-S would love to help put an end to childhood hunger, so have partnered with No Kid Hungry and has pledged to provide 1 Million meals to kids in need by the end of this year, 2017.

When it comes to childhood hunger, I have spoken on the issue numerous times before, right here on this blog. I personally believe that no child should ever go hungry, and every child deserves to have a daily nutritious meal. Children who lack proper nutrition often have poor physical health and may lack the energy to participate in physical activities or even at school. Hunger can harm not just their physical wellbeing, but also their emotional and social too. Did you know that 1-in-6 children go hungry right here in the United State of America? That’s a rather unusual high statistic, especially for a first world country. For many, school provided meals may be their only form of nourishment. That’s why BarS is committed to feeding kids via partnering with No Kid Hungry, especially during the summer months when these kids have no access to free school lunches. During the summer, children should be focused on being kids, enjoying what the summer has to offer, fresh air, playing with friends and family, and not worry about where their next meal will come.

I have always been a fan of BarS products. You may remember my Bacon Cheese Wrapped Franks made with BarS franks. Not only were they delicious, but they were inexpensive to make as well. We always keep their franks, bologna and deli ham in our refrigerator so we can make quick after school snacks or even dinner. One particular meal that we love making is our Hawaiian Grilled Cheese Sandwiches. It puts a spin on the regular grilled cheese sandwiches and since we love pineapple and ham on our pizza, I figured why not? It was a hit and still is.

Here is what you’ll need:

Ingredients:

2 slices of bread

2 slices of pineapple, fresh or canned

Slices of BarS Deli Ham

Muenster cheese or cheese of choice

butter

Directions:

Butter one side of each slice of bread.

On the non buttered side place your Muenster cheese, then the ham, pineapple, ham, cheese and top with the other slice of bread with the buttered side facing up.

Cook your sandwich on your stove top in a frying pan or a griddle.

Once your bread is toasted on one side, flip to toast the other side.

Cook on a low heat so your cheese can melt while your bread is toasting.

Remove from heat once you’ve reached your desired ‘toastiness’, serve then enjoy.
