Gone Too Soon

Yesterday August 19th, I lost one of the most important people in my life. My mother and my best friend. My mother has been there for me since day 1 and now my life feels empty without her. She was not only a mother but a grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and a great friend to many.

The words cannot describe how I'm feeling at the current time but I know that she's in a better place now, no longer suffering in pain and for that I'm grateful. Gone too soon but would never be forgotten. May her soul rest in peace and one day I hope to see her again.

Those who frequently visit Growing Up Madison, I'll be gone today to prepare for her funeral in the Caribbean. I'll be back on the 30th. Thank you to those who offered their condolences via Facebook and texts. Our family is currently in mourning but with your prayers, we will persevere.

  1. Oh Amanda, I am so sorry for the loss of your dear mom.

  2. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a parent is so tough. Part of who you are and where you come from is gone.

This part of Stephen Colbert's eulogy to his mother are words that have always resonated with me:

"And I know it may sound greedy to want more days with a person who lived so long, but the fact that my mother was 92 does not diminish, it only magnifies the enormity of the room whose doors have quietly shut."

    Safe trip.

  3. I'm so sorry to hear this Amanda. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

    Sending you love and comfort.

  4. I am so very sorry for your loss. Your family will be in my prayers.

  5. What a beautiful photo. So sorry to hear this. I'll be thinking so much about you all.

  6. I am so very sorry to hear this and for your loss.

  7. I am so sorry for your loss. I know I haven't been around much in the last 6 months, but I remember you talking about your mother and I can only imagine how much you are missing her. I lost my mother to cancer when I had just given birth to my oldest, I still think of her everyday. Thinking of you and your family, sorry you are going through this.
