I am a huge fan of cars, trucks and even action figures. While I may look like a girl, dress like a girl and even talk like a girl, I love almost everything the boys love as well. I can hang with the best of them. It also helps that I have two older brothers who are my mentor. They have been there for me since day one and can you believe it but they actually treat me like I’m one of the boys. Although my brother Mikael sometimes sit and watch My Little Pony with me (he would deny it) he is all guy! He refuses to sit and play with my dolls, although he does play with his action figures, and every once in a while we’ll have tea together. Yeah Bumblebee once transformed actually have tea with my teddies. Well when Educational Insight offered a choice of items to choose from, the first thing that grabbed my attention was the Dino Construction Company “Boom” The Brachiosaurus Backhoe. I decided that this would be the perfect choice for me and my brother. I would have something that we can both use since he’s also a big fan of dinosaurs.

The Dino Construction Company toys are all kid-powered. What does that mean? It means that there are no batteries involved. It’s very usual these days to have toys, especially cars and trucks to not have batteries. It seems like batteries are always needed for 90% of toys so this was a huge plus for us. This is a take out of the box and play right away toy. Now not only is this a kid-powered toy but everything works as well.

The backhoe actually scoops and is perfect for sandboxes and even digging in the dirt. I took him in our backyard which doesn’t have much grass and I had a fabulous time digging in the dirt with him. If you’re not afraid to have your little ones get dirty then I say go for it! After all it only takes a bit of soap and some water to get clean again.

His head actually works as well and you can bend him head and open and close his jaws just like a real dinosaur. I had fun putting little sticks in his mouth for him to carry around.

Now even the steering wheel in Boom’s cab worked. His cab is also rotatable so you can swing him around to wherever you want him to go. When I tell you everything worked I really meant it. One of the cool feature of Boom was his wheels. They left dino tracks in the dirt and he can run on sand, dirt, carpet, you name it he can do it. He’s made for both indoor and outdoor play.

I really had a lot of fun playing with Boom the Brachiosaurus Backhoe and while I did get dirty it was so worth it. Mommy loved that there were no batteries to buy ever and I loved that he’s built tough enough for me. If you have a little boy or girl who’s into dinosaurs and trucks then this is the toy for you. You are going to love him as much as I do and he totally gets my TWO TINY THUMBS UP!
