Dollar Store DIY: Joy Holiday Wreath

The Holidays are fast approaching and you may have even started with your decorations. You've found the perfect tree and you have your personalized ornaments all ready complete with star. The stockings are placed above the fireplace and you're all ready indoors. What about your front door? Are you looking to perk up your front door for the holidays? If so, then I have perfect thing for you. How about giving our Joy Holiday Wreath craft a try. Using nothing but supplies from your local dollar store, you can craft a Joy Holiday Wreath just like the one you see here. No matter what kind of budget you are on, what kind of time you have, or what your crafting skills are, this is a holiday craft that anyone can enjoy. Take a peek below at how you can get started crafting your own!

Supplies needed for this craft:

Joy glittered ornament
Assorted small bulb ornaments
Tinsel wreath form
Hot glue, glue gun

As mentioned we found all of these items at our local Dollar Tree store. Our total cost for this wreath was around $3. Now that is some frugal and festive fun!

Directions:

1. Begin by snipping the hanging string from the joy ornament. You won’t need it so discard it.

2. Add some glue to the back of the Joy ornament. Press it to the bottom of the tinsel wreath form. Hold in place until dry and secure.

3. Now add the ornament bulbs. Use a variety of colors. Just add a dab of hot glue to the back of the bulb and press it to the wreath. We placed a few on each side of the Joy ornament. Keep the ornaments close together. You can even add drops of glue between them to hold them secure.

You can choose now to leave the wreath like this or add more ornaments, bulbs, glitter, etc. We found this simple style to be perfect for our space so left it as is. You can add ribbon for hanging, although the tinsel wreath forms already have a thread for hanging on them. The choice is up to you.

So gather your supplies and give this Joy holiday wreath a try! You are going to love it and all without spending a lot of money.

Cheesy Potato Soup with Italian Sausage

Since the weather turned cooler I have been thinking more about serving soup as a meal a lot more frequently. We have our favorites but sometimes it’s nice to put a twist on an old recipe by adding new and unexpected ingredients like this Cheesy Potato Soup with Italian Sausage instead of the traditional ham or bacon. I think that this just might be my new favorite potato soup! You can also make it yours as well.

Here is what you'll need:

American Girl Bitty Baby for Baby's First Christmas

I have a massive obsession with dolls. A very HUGE obsession and I own quite a lot of them. There are so many advantages or benefits of playing with dolls. I can tell you that I learned my body parts from a doll that I received last year. I also learned how to take on and off clothing by using a doll as well. My coordination skills are excellent thanks to role-playing with dolls. I've had tea with my dolls, taken my dolls for walks and even given a few of my dolls baths. As a matter of fact, I will tell you that your little one is never too young to play with dolls. They are even great for boys also. They just call them by a different name (action figures). I remember distinctly when I received my very first doll. It was Christmas, and I received a Bitty Baby from American Girl for my very first Christmas. At the time I wasn't too interested, but I can tell you that changed very quickly. My "beebee" as I called her became my very best friend and has a special place in my bed. Recently mommy and I were afforded the chance to work with American Girl, and I was sent another Bitty Baby. She will not replace my first "beebee" but I can guarantee that she will be loved just as much. I recently had a lot of fun shopping at the American Girl store, and I want to share my experience with you.

My Very First Christmas (age 11 months) with my Bitty Baby

If you have never been to an American Girl store before, then you are definitely missing out. My store is about 45 minutes away, but mommy loves going there because it's located in a huge mall and mommy just loves to shop. Shopping is what mommy does best! Now mommy says that my store is not as big as the one she used to go to in NYC but it's just as beautiful. The store is designed with kids in mind. From the beautiful displays to the customer service, it just screams "come inside and play".

American Girl has one of the best customer services you can ever ask for. Have you ever went into a store and wondered where the help was when you needed it? Well, you won't have to look for service because they ask what can they help you with before you can even ask. They are always so willing to go out of their way to help you.

I decided to take my old Bitty Baby along to my shopping trip. It has been a while since she's been back where she came from. Mommy and I were going to get me matching PJ's so that I could match my new Bitty Baby. Yes, American Girl sells more than just dolls. They sell clothing for your dolls and clothing for you too.

Let's not talk about the displays. It's as if they never want you to leave the store. I had a lot of fun having tea and crumpets with the dolls on display. Since the American Girl store is designed for kids, your little one is going to have a field day in there. The displays were made to be touched but mommy, of course, made me clean up after myself when I was done.

So I bet you want to learn more about the Bitty Baby. Well, it is 15 inches tall and perfect for your little one's little hands to hug and give kisses. There are 11 dolls in all, and there is one to match your little one's skin color, hair, and eyes. Their eyes open and close and they are made of huggable cloth body while their limbs and their head are made of smooth vinyl.

Each Bitty Baby comes complete with a white sleeper (and yes I got the matching one),  a soft cloth diaper, a hardcover Bitty Baby and Me picture book that tells your Bitty Baby's story and a sparkly wishing star.

Now there are also Bitty Baby Twins. These have one significant difference. They come with hair that you can play with. They are the same 15 inches and also comes with complete outfits and a book. These are perfect for the twins in your life.

I had an excellent time shopping at American Girl and really didn't want to leave the store. Have an exit plan because your little ones wouldn't want to leave either. Mommy had to tempt me with buying candy so that I could leave. She said that we could go to the candy store and get some gummies. She did keep her promise.

If you're looking for a doll for Baby's First Christmas, then look no further than a Bitty Baby for the holidays. It's a perfect size and well made. Complete with storybook and star and ready for gifting. I am in love with my new Bitty Baby, and I know your little one will too. The American Girl Bitty Baby gets my TWO TINY THUMBS UP!

Here are the ways you can connect with and follow American Girl:

Wear Couture - KidCuteTure

It's still Fashion Friday! Yes, it is, and do you remember me telling you about a company that I've worked with before that I loved? Well, let me get right into it. Let me re-introduce you to KidCuteTure. It's couture for kids and it's totally cute! When I say that I love a company, I'm not just saying it because I'm working with them. There have actually been companies that I've worked with in the past that haven't gotten glowing reviews from me. KidCuteTure is not one of them. I walked the runway although not technically last year and can you believe that the outfit that I got last year still fits. It still fits and is in excellent condition. I have worn and washed it numerous times and it still holds up like the day I got it. Talk about quality! If you haven't heard of KidCuteTure before now, they're a designer house for girl wear in sizes 3 months - 14 years. Sorry boys, it's a girls' world.

This time I was sent their Vivienne Dress in Gold but it is also available in Rose and Charcoal. I decided to choose gold because I have almost every color under the sun but nothing really in gold. I must say that it does look good on me but then again I expected anything from KidCuteTure to look good on me.

Now one of the reasons why mommy and I just love their clothing is the fact that they are unique. They have their own unique look. From the flouncy skirts to the rosette on their dresses, you know that you're wearing a KidCuteTure creation. My Vivienne dress was beautiful. From the star detailing to the puckered skirt look, I can't begin to rave about it. It's made from 95% cotton and 5% spandex and it's not hard cotton either. It's super soft to the touch and totally machine washable.

Now if you read my older review of KidCuteTure you may remember that I said that it ran slightly bigger than your usual clothing. I got a size 2T last year and it still fits. This time I decided to get me size 3 and you may notice that the sleeves are just a tad long. That means that once again I'll get to wear my designer clothing for at least another year or more.

Their clothing is comfortable enough to play in and still fashionable enough to wear on that special occasion. Yes, you can have the best of both worlds with KidCuteTure. So if you're looking for something unique and special, something that makes you stand out from the crowd, something that says "hey look at me, I'm runway-worthy!", then look no further than KidCuteTure.

You and your little ones and big ones too are going to love the way they look in KidCuteTure. Stand out from the crowd and be absolutely amazing! KidCuteTure once again gets my TWO TINY THUMBS UP!

Fashion Friday with Fiona Prince Shoes

Every once in a while a company reaches out to us and after taking a look at their products mommy and I say yes. One such company has been Fiona Prince. It did take us a while to be able to share them with you. The reason being that they're based all the way in Hong Kong, China. I know what you're thinking. Well I think I know what you're thinking. "Well Madison, how can we possibly shop from a store that's all the way in China?" Or maybe you're thinking, "Is the quality as great as the products we buy here in the US?" Well that's what I'm here to tell you about today. Today is Fashion Friday and I get to bring you Fiona Prince, a company that makes shoes and accessories for boys and girls ages 0 - 8 years.

You Will Love the Clothing at Le-Top USA

It's Fashion Friday  once again and today we have a few treats for you. Today we are going to highlight a few companies and most of them are repeats that we've done in the past. I've mentioned before that a company has really had to impress us for us to work with them twice, and the companies that we're sharing with you today have totally wowed us. You may remember Le-Top. Mommy and I had a chance to work with them earlier this summer and we talked about their high quality playwear. Le-Top not only has playwear but dresswear and this holiday they want to outfit your little ones. Le-Top has been outfitting little ones for the past 35 years so they know a thing or two about fashion for kids. Not only fashion for kids but age appropriate fashion for kids ages 0 - 7 years of age, both boys and girls. They're a family owned company based out of Sunny Concord, California - just across the bay from San Francisco.

Nerd Block Jr - November 2014

I like to think of my brothers as little nerds. They love everything related to comic books and cartoons. I don't think there are any bigger Marvel or DC fans bigger than they are. They not only enjoy watching the shows but they also enjoy collecting the collectibles as well. When Nerd Block Jr contacted mommy about featuring their new subscription service for kids ages 6 - 11, mommy automatically thought of my brother Mikael. You know the stinky one who usually hangs out with me. He's been on my blog so much now that I should rename it to Growing Up M&M (Madison and Mikael). What do you think? Anyway, let's get back to Nerd Block Jr. Nerd Block Jr is the baby of Nerd Block,  a mystery subscription box for ‘geeks’ and ‘nerds’ founded in 2013 and based out of Ontario, Canada. They operate by sending each subscriber a box filled with toys, collectables, and a custom t-shirt every month! Since their launch in 2013 they have gained worldwide critical acclaim and a subscriber base in the tens of thousands. Nerd Block Jr. is the first subscription service of it’s kind dedicated specifically to junior nerds! It is also a really cheap subscription box and one of the cheapest that we have had by far. Can you believe that it only costs $13.99 plus shipping? And guess what? It's available in both a boy and girl edition. After all girls can be little nerds too.

Max Out Checkout - The Ultimate Chrome Extension

There is no one who loves shopping like my mom does. She can sniff out a deal like a police dog sniffs out drugs. Although she loves shopping she doesn't like couponing much. At least she doesn't like couponing with actual paper coupons, so you won't see her sitting at a desk cutting out paper coupons. While she hates couponing with actual paper coupons, she does like scouring the online web for those digital coupons that can save her some money. She would go from site to site looking for that elusive coupon and sometimes when she finds it, it doesn't work. You know what I'm talking about. It has probably happened to you too. Well no more! Mommy has finally found an extension that makes couponing and saving money online very easy. Introducing Max Out Checkout powered by Verified Codes.

Chillafish BMXie - A Really Cool Balance Bike

At the tender age of one I started out trying to ride a bike. After all my big brothers and even my sisters were riding. Well it wasn't actually a bike but more of a tricycle. You know the ones with three wheels. While it was all fine and dandy I wanted to be like the big kids. After all the big kids don't ride tricycles and they don't use training wheels either. I've had a few balance bikes throughout my short two years of living and they've all had their pros and cons. Some were made of wood, while others were made of plastic and one was even made of steel. Some had wheels made of plastic while others were air filled. One thing I can say of them all is that they do what they were meant to do. Help me ride like a big kid without the training wheels. When I was given the chance to review the Chillafish BMXie I said "Yes" because as I mentioned, they're all different and I want to share the BMXie with you today. The Chillafish BMXie is considered one of the coolest balance bike in the world and is currently available in blue, lime, red, yellow and pink. It is recommended for ages 2-5 with a maximum weight of 110lbs.

I was able to review the Chillafish BMXie in my favorite color pink and was very excited to receive it. Now you may be wondering about set up. How many parts does it come with and is it difficult putting it together? Well if mommy can do it without the help of daddy, then it's super easy to set up. It really doesn't come with too many parts. The wheels, the frame and the handle bar are all you need to put together. Once thats done, you're good to go! I would say it took mommy about 5-10 minutes to get everything together and mommy isn't that good with putting things together at all.

Once your bike is set up though it sure is a beauty. Now one of the things that makes the BMXie stand out is the BMX style look that it has. While most balance bikes look like little kids bikes, the BMXie is made to look more like a bigger kid bike.  I do have to say though that this made of fiber glass reinforced materials which felt like heavy duty plastic to me,  which I wasn't too impressed with, but there were a few features that I really loved. With it being made that way though it was super light, light enough for me to pick up and take around.

For example I really loved how easy it was to adjust the seat. No tools were needed. With a simple twist I could have my seat to the right height. The seat also has little grippers so that your little one won't slide off that easily. The seat adjusts from 12-15 inches so it should be great for a few years of use.

The footrest is just the same. No one likes pulling tools out when you want to ride right away. It has one of the easiest seat adjustments I've had to date.

Another feature that mommy and I truly loved was the tires. They are real pneumatic inflatable tires. You know the kind that if they go flat you can take them to the gas station to put air in them. Or if you have a pump at home you can fill them as well. Yeah mommy and I really liked that. No cheap plastic tires that if they go flat, that's the end of your bike. That was a really cool touch from Chillafish and we really appreciated that they took the time to make this a lot like the bigger kids bikes.

Now for those who like to make their products their own, Chillafish included a few decals that you can put on the front number plate which is detachable, customizing it to just the way you want, making it yours, all yours. The handle bars are also textured and just the right size for little hands. I had no problems steering which is also a plus for me. While the seats do adjust the handlebar doesn't and while I had no problems with that, it would have been nice to have an adjustable handlebar as well. *hint hint Chillafish*

Balance bikes are great for kids learning how to ride a bike. You can totally skip the training wheels and get right on to riding. I think I'm a pro by now. Now once they've learned how to balance they might then need to learn how to pedal which is the easy part. My balance and coordination skills are on point and I couldn't be happier. Very soon I'll be on a big kids bike rolling down the streets sipping on my apple juice. Thanks to Chillafish BMXie.

If you have a toddler between the ages of 18 months and 5 years I would say get them a Chillafish BMXie. Most toddlers that age are so ready for a balance bike. It was when I started and I have no regrets. You'll love the Chillafish BMXie just like I do. It totally gets my TWO TINY THUMBS UP!
