I love being outdoors. It has been mentioned over and over again on Growing Up Madison that I am totally considered an outdoor toddler. I hate being cooped up indoors so Old Man Winter is definitely not my friend. Even during the Winter though, mommy do try and find activities for me that require a bit of outdoor time, and I just can’t wait for spring to get here so I can really run around. I have enough outdoor toys such as bikes, scooters and even a swing and slide set in my backyard that misses me when winter rolls around. Now that summer is officially here and the weather is great, getting out and about is what your little ones should be doing. No sitting indoors watching TV and playing video games. In fact did you know that playing not only gives us exercise but it also stimulates our minds? And guess what, playing outdoors in the summer gives us that necessary Vitamin D that we so need, even in the winter. So get up and get out! A company that thinks the way mommy and I do is Kickety Split. They design and sell active gear for your little ones ages 2-6. Their clothing is perfect not just for school but also the playground, yoga, gymnastics and of course dance parties.

Kickety Split was created when NYC mom of 2 Tracey was told that her little one had low muscle tone by her physical therapist. Upon searching high and low for work out gear that looked like her own she realized that there was none on the market. What’s a mom to do when she wants something that isn’t available? She makes it! Thus Kickety Split was born. You can read more about Tracey’s story on their about us page.

I was sent the Sassy Skegging, the Zippy Hoodie and the Croppy Top and I couldn’t wait to wear them as with any of the clothing I receive. This though was perfect since I didn’t have to wait for a special occasion. Any day you’re outside playing is considered a special occasion in my book.

While the crop top is made of 100% combed cotton, the other pieces are made of 92% cotton and 8% spandex giving them that slight stretch. I was really impressed with the skegging. It has that ruffled look in the back making it totally girly and ready for play but also perfect for a birthday party. As with all of their clothing, the pieces are also interchangeable.

I do have to mention one tiny detail. Their clothing runs a little on the bigger side. I typically wear a size 2T-3T so I chose the size 2-3. As you can see in the hoodie and the jacket it is a tad big on me but not too much. That means though that I’ll be able to wear it for quite a little while. I am rather tall for my age so the pants may not but capris are the rage these days anyway.

What we really loved about the Kickety Split website is that it’s not just a website for you to purchase these amazing clothing for your little one, but there are also activities to encourage them to be active as well. The activities were created with the input and guidance of a registered pediatric phyiscal therapist and you don’t even need any special equipment or large space. I encourage you to check it out!

I love this active clothing line for kids. Not only is it age appropriate but it is very comfortable and fun to wear. I didn’t feel constricted and was able to ride around looking cool and feeling cool to boot! The prices are also very reasonable ranging from $29 – $44. Currently they only ship to the US but hopefully Canada and international may included.

So if you’re looking for work out gear for your little one who likes to imitate you, then look no further than Kickety Split. You know that they definitely get my TWO TINY THUMBS UP!
