5 Ways to Celebrate Labor Day

Labor Day is almost here, which means summer is winding down. Don’t let summer end on a boring note, though. Celebrate Labor Day and have a blast doing it. Even if you don’t have a lot of money to celebrate, you can still do something memorable on this extended weekend.

Have a Picnic

A picnic is a fun and easy way to celebrate any weekend. Gather up your friends and family, pick a spot that you all love, and picnic for the holiday. Be sure to pack foods that are easy to transport and eat while outside, like fruit kabobs and bottled drinks. If you are going to a destination, keep things simple so that you don’t get bogged down with too much picnic gear. If you can’t leave home, make an extravagant picnic under the stars in the backyard, complete with pillows for lounging and candlelight to make the mood perfect.

Get Your Chore List Done

Okay, this doesn’t seem like fun, but it can be! Get the whole family in on it and play some of your favorite tunes. You can dance around while you clean the house, or make a relay race out of cleaning the yard. Yup, cleaning can actually be fun on Labor Day weekend. You can have fun and get projects knocked off your list—just in time for fall!

Go Swimming

Many public pools and lakes close after Labor Day, so get in one last swimming trip. Go every day during the extended weekend, or just choose one day to get next to the water as early as you’re allowed and stay until they kick you out! Bring along snacks, a good book, and your favorite music, and have fun soaking up those rays (safely, of course… don’t forget the sunscreen!)

Have a Backyard BBQ

Invite the neighbors and have a BBQ cooking or eating contest. Make it a whole neighborhood block party and party all day and night. If you live in an area that allows it, set off some fireworks when the sun goes down. Labor Day celebrates the workforce, so do it your way!

Have a Spa Day

Pamper yourself, even if it is at home. Massages, facials, manicures, and pedicures are all fantastic ways to unwind as you enjoy a long weekend. Can’t you just feel the stress melting away? Good! When you return to work on Tuesday, you will feel renewed and rejuvenated, which is what a holiday weekend is supposed to do for you.

In Conclusion

No matter how you choose to celebrate Labor Day, make sure you do something. The extended weekend is the perfect opportunity to spend time with friends and family, or just relax by yourself. You have three days off from work, so make the most of them!
