A few weeks ago I told you about the Colorado Renaissance Festival. If you don't remember me posting about it you can actually check out my post. Well this past weekend, mommy, me and my sister Krxssy went to the Renaissance Festival to experience what it was about. Located in Larkspur Colorado, it took us approximately 45 minutes to get there from Colorado Springs. It was most certainly different from anything that I've ever experienced before, and we felt like we stepped back in time for the few hours we were there. The costumes were amazing and I surely tried taking everything in.
From the moment you step into the entrance you are totally engulfed in a whole new time. One that's filled with beauty and of course charm. I now know what I want to be at Halloween. I want to be one of these people from the olden days. Even mommy got in on the fun!
I want to share with you some of the photos that I took. Now if you don't have a costume there was somewhere for you to rent one. Mommy didn't think that I needed one so unfortunately for me I didn't get one.
The first thing you're going to want to do once you're inside is grab a festival guide. It lists all the activities and the times and also the location of every thing. You are most definitely going to want to know where the Privvies are.
One of the highlights of our visit was the Puke and Snot show. It was totally hilarious. While some of the jokes were way over my head I did enjoy hearing the laughter coming from everyone around me. It was an amazing act I would recommend you seeing it if you go.
There are a few other acts including the Washer Wrench's Stage who had the crowd in an uproar of laughter and the music found at the Pirates Pub.
Here's something you should know. Please bring cash. Since credit cards were recently invented there is no machines to take your purchase.
Don't think this is just enjoyment for the adults. There are lots for the little ones to do too, such as riding an elephant. I didn't get to ride since I was slightly afraid but maybe next year I'll get to do so. Everything at the fair is man powered, even the rides which looked super fun!
With so much to see and do I recommend planning to spend quite a few hours here. You most certainly won't be disappointed.
The Colorado Renaissance Festival has been around for 38 years and it's running for 8 consecutive weekends. Each weekend there's a different theme and the week we went was actually the wine tasting week.
If you're visiting in Colorado and would love to go, there is still 3 weekends left. One thing I have to warn you about is parking. While it's free be sure to get there early because the early bird gets the worm, or in this case, the best parking spot closest to the entrance. Here is the address for those wanting to visit:
650 W. Perry Park Ave.
Larkspur, CO 80118
Tickets are $16.95 if purchased online and $19.95 at the gate for ages 12+
Children ages 5 - 12 : $8 online and $9 at the gate.
Use our coupon and get a free child ticket for any adult ticket purchased.
I sure had a lot of fun and maybe this is something I'll be able to experience again next year. After all how often does one get to climb up the leg of a Pirate?
Disclosure: The Colorado Renaissance Festival provided me with free tickets. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I personally believe will be good for my readers. ReplyDeleteIt really was a blast from the past and I just loved all the costumes. We took quite a lot of photos too but most were of people in their costumes and mommy doesn't like showing others on the blog without their permission. I really do hope I can go again next year when I'm older. ♥ Madison
DeleteIt's a little like the one we have next to Cape Cod.
ReplyDeleteWe LOVE it. I hope to go back this year.
That would be really nice Tamara and I just know that you'll have some amazing photos to share with us. ♥ Madison
DeleteOh my gosh! What fun! I bet the kids loved it!
ReplyDeleteWe sure did. Have you ever been to a Renaissance festival? ♥ Madison
DeleteSOO much fun!!! We have a Rennie faire that comes here to my area for the month of Sept & Oct and we look forward to going every year!!
ReplyDeleteI know that you will be sharing your photos since you always do. Can't wait to see them. ♥ Madison
DeleteWow those sets, soundstages and acts look EXACTLY like the ones we have at the GA ren fest, but all of our actors are local. Small world, I guess.
ReplyDeleteI guess most Renaissance Fairs look almost the same since it's a different era. ♥ Madison
DeleteRen Faire is pretty much the best thing ever, whether you are 2 or 92.
ReplyDeleteIt has long been one of HeidiTown's picks for the best fest in Colorado!
That is awesome! I had no idea it was one of your best picks, it totally deserves it! ♥ Madison
DeleteI love the Renaissance Festival! We always go when they come down to South Florida. Can't miss out on the funnel cake and funny wenches! Are you in Colorado? I used to live in Aurora. My ex husband was stationed there for the Air Force and we were there 3 years before coming back to FL. I LOVE it there!!
ReplyDeleteYes we are actually in Colorado Springs. I've never been to Aurora but it's not too far. We are here because of the military as well. ♥ Madison
DeleteThis looks like such a fun event! I've never been to a Renaissance Festival.
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely try and see if there's one near you. You'd love it. ♥ Madison
DeleteI have always wanted to go to the Renaissance Festival. It sounds like so much fun, but I do hear they are really good at nickle and diming you once you get in.
ReplyDeleteOh yes they are a lot of fun but be sure to walk with lots of money since nothing is free besides a few acts. ♥ Madison
DeleteI love events like this. We go to one in upstate NY every year. It doesn't start until August and runs thru Sept. My kids always have so much fun there!
ReplyDeleteThis was my first one and I loved it too. I can just imagine your kids enjoying it too. ♥ Madison
DeleteDef would have to have a coupon for this.. we have lots of kids. It does look really fun, especially those rides!
ReplyDeleteOh yes if you have lots of kids you are most definitely want to take advantage of that coupon. ♥ Madison
DeleteI lived in Colorado as a child and loved the Renaissance festival. Reading your post brought back so many fond memories.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that I was able to bring back fond memories to you. ♥ Madison
DeleteI've been to a few ren faires and they are radically different from each other. The last one I went to was disappointing, but it sounds like yours was much better!
ReplyDeleteMine was awesome! I wish you could experience the one that Colorado has to offer. ♥ Madison
DeleteWe have a large ren fest here and it goes on for a few months. Husband and I actually have ren costumes. We took kiddo once when she was younger and she just complained most of the time. :( We are hoping now that she is a bit older that it might be a bit more fun for her to hang out there. I believe ours starts in August or September.
ReplyDeleteI am hoping that mommy would get me a ren costume next year because I would so love to dress up. I hope she's able to love it now she's older too. ♥ Madison
DeleteThis looks like a really cute place. I will have to remember it if we are ever in Colorado.
ReplyDeleteWell since it's only here until August 3rd you would most definitely have to come in the summer. ♥ Madison
DeleteSuch fun! I've only been once to one that is local but I'm hoping to take my whole family this fall for the day. Enjoyed your photos a lot.
ReplyDeleteThank you Janel. I hope that you and your family would enjoy it a lot when you do go. ♥ Madison
DeleteI have never been to a Renaissance festival, so reading about it here and seeing the amazing pictures was indeed a delight for me. How cool is it that you could ride an elephant! It would be the first thing I'd do. :)
ReplyDeleteHey Tami, maybe next year I'd ride an elephant myself. This year I was scared because they are oh so big. I might just be a bit more braver next year because I'd be older. ♥ Madison
DeleteWe have a renaissance festival here in Georgia too, and we just visited last year. I'm bummed that ours doesn't have an elephant to ride though!
ReplyDeleteWell to make you feel better Kecia, I didn't get to ride the elephant so we'll pretend that there wasn't any there for your sake. ♥ Madison
DeleteI would love to go to one. There is one that happens here near Houston every year but have never been
ReplyDeleteI most definitely recommend going. I think you would so love it there! ♥ Madison
DeleteThis looks like such a fun festival! We have a Renaissance Festival near us, but I just haven't gotten a chance to go to it yet. Hopefully this year!
ReplyDeleteMaybe hopefully this year you'll be able to go. It will be an experience for you to remember. ♥ Madison
DeleteThat looks like so much fun! We have a Renaissance festival near here and it's always fun to go out and people-watch.
ReplyDeleteOh people watch was really fun. We got some really nice photos but mommy doesn't like publishing photos of others but they looked really cool ♥ Madison
DeleteI haven't been to the renaissance festival in a while. Maybe I can take my boys this year.
ReplyDeleteThat would be a great idea and they just might enjoy it just like you would. ♥ Madison
DeleteI haven't been there since I was a kid! I hope to find the time to take my kids this year :)
ReplyDeleteThat would be great! You will all get to experience it and have fun. ♥ Madison
DeleteThe Ren FEst is so fun! Some of these actors must travel nationwide. I remember seeing the washing wenches before!
ReplyDeleteThat just may be true. They're only here for 8 weeks so I'm sure they go somewhere else when they're done. ♥ Madison
DeleteWhat a wonderful experience. Looks like a real fun place.
ReplyDeleteIt was a lot of fun and a whole new experience. ♥ Madison
DeleteThis looks like so much fun. Any kid would enjoy an experience like this!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they would because I sure did. ♥ Madison
DeleteI have never been to a Ren. festival! What an amazing time.
ReplyDeleteIf there is a time that they do come in your area, I would suggest going. You'll love it. ♥ Madison
DeleteThat's a good tip on the cash. This does look like a fun visit to make. :)
ReplyDeleteOh yeah because it was in the era where credit cards weren't invented so only cash is accepted. ♥ Madison
DeleteWow! That looks like so much fun. I would love to go to one someday!
ReplyDeleteIf you get the chance to go, I would suggest doing it. ♥ Madison
DeleteI have actually never been to a Renaissance Festival and have always wanted to go. It does seem like a lot of fun and I just love the clothing of that era.
ReplyDeleteThe clothing sure was unique. I loved it and hope I can be able to dress like that next time. ♥ Madison
Deletethis looks like a blast! they have one close to us in Sept. I'm thinking of taking the kids.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a great idea and you must share your photos with us. ♥ Madison
DeleteThat looks so fun! We have a Renaissance Festival nearby that I was thinking about taking the kids to. I am sure they will love it!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they will Laura and if you do I want to hear all about it. ♥ Madison
DeleteLove the Renaissance Festival! I haven't gone in so long, but I think the boys would love going this year!
ReplyDeleteI think they will too Amy and I think you should definitely take them. ♥ Madison
DeleteThis looks like such a fun time. I would love to try one of those cheesecake pops.
ReplyDeleteThat's one thing they did have a lot of, really good food. ♥ Madison
Deletethat looks like one of the better ren faires i've seen photos of. so many seem dull and boring. this looks FUN!
ReplyDeleteIt really was a lot of fun. I plan on going back so I may have even more updated photos to show you and maybe there might be one of me actually riding the Elephant. ♥ Madison
DeleteI have never been to a Ren Fair. It looks like it would be a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteIt sure was Carly and if you ever happen to hear of one near you I would suggest going. ♥ Madison
Deletemy kids love the fair that is near us. Looks like you guys had a great time.
ReplyDeleteWe really did. It was amazing and we have plans to go back soon. ♥ Madison
DeleteI want to go to a Renaissance festival so bad. I've never been to one and those turkey legs I've seen people eating look delicious,
ReplyDeleteIf one ever happens your way I would certainly suggest going. Disney has some amazing turkey legs too if you happen to go there instead. ♥ Madison
DeleteThat one looks really nice and family friendly. The last time I went to one, I was nursing my baby in a carrier and some lady came over, put her hand on my carrier and insisted she see the baby eating. It was a little off putting, but I'm sure a random experience. We laugh about it now. My son wants to go - and I love those turkey legs!
ReplyDeleteThat was very disconcerting. Seemed a little out of the normal but maybe as you said it was just a random experience. Hopefully the next time you go it'll be better. ♥ Madison
