The one thing mommy really loved about our new Crane Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier, besides it looking so awesome, is that it requires no filter. Now there's no extra parts to buy. Who doesn't like a product that you only pay for once? It is also very easy to use as well. It comes already set up in the box so all you need to do is fill it with water.

The tank can hold approximately 1 gallon of water. Use cool water and not hot. We have hard water where we live so mommy uses distilled water. That 1 gallon of water lasts a very long time. According to Crane it can run for a minimum of 11 hours on that 1 gallon. So far mommy and I have ran it for 8-9 hours at night and we have to say that they are correct. There was still water and mist continuing when I woke up.

It is also very quiet. No one likes a noisy humidifier when they're sleeping. That defeats the purpose of sleeping. Sure you like a little white noise but not noise that is so noisy that you can't sleep. I can sleep through this and I think I'm a very light sleeper. It is important to set the humidifier on a medium mist, with door ajar. A high setting may be too much humidity.

It is very easy to clean when you're finished using it as well. Remember to empty your water basin and water tank daily. The humidifier should be disinfected weekly as well with 1 part white vinegar and two parts water. You let the solution sit for 30 minutes then rinse.
Here is some great information that Crane supplied me with for my blog readers:
Young children commonly get about 6 to 8 colds and upper respiratory tract infections each year. The FDA and Pediatricians recommend not giving over the counter cough and cold medicine to children under the age of six because of the risk of overdose.
For cold and flu symptoms the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend a cool mist humidifier, saline nasal solution, and a bulb to suction the nasal mucus. A cool mist humidifier is preferred over a warm mist because the water does not boil.
Humidifiers can help:
- Loosen nasal congestion
- Ease Dry Coughs
- Soothe Itchy Dry Skin
- Moisten Chapped Lips
- Prevent Nose Bleeds
- Helps with Overall Cold and Flu Symptoms
- Cool mist is best for croup
What is the difference between cool mist and warm mist?Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifiers cool mist is generated by a thin film of water that is passed over a rapidly vibrating transducer. The vibration breaks the water up into tiny droplets and emits a whisper quiet mist.
Warm mist humidifiers produce a warm mist by boiling the water in the humidifier. Generally warm mist humidifiers allow vapor liquids to be added to the water.
Can I add scents, medication or oils to the cool mist ultrasonic humidifier water? No, medication should never be added directly into the water for any of the ultrasonic cool mist humidifiers. The oil in the liquids will disrupt the smooth operation of the humidifier and possibly cause malfunction. Warm mist humidifiers allow vapor liquids but not scents/oils.

ReplyDeleteYes now you can have cute and practical all in one. It sure does enhance my decor don't you think? ♥ Madison
DeleteThat is a really cute Humidifier. Good thing you use distilled water. You should see the mess I made one time not using the distilled water. It was bad.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah we have really hard water where we live and it turns everything white so we don't really use it. It can be very expensive buying water but it's the only way to go. ♥ Madison
DeleteI think that is super cute! With winter coming, I really need to think about getting one for myself. Our house is very dry, so a lot of bloody noses occur here. It's a real pain!
ReplyDeleteBloody noses are no joke. My brother suffers from them so he might have to borrow mine as well. ♥ Madison
DeleteI've heard about these. I love using a humidifier for my daughter. It helps her allergies so much.

ReplyDeleteWe love owls too which is why we chose this one. It really is a great product. ♥ Madison
DeleteMy apartment is very dry especially in the winter months. This sounds like it would be good for me (an adult) as well for my repertoire of Fall allergies.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah it would definitely be good for you. If you don't want the animal version there's even more to choose from. ♥ Madison
DeleteThis is very cute. I need to invest in a humidifier since the colder months are approaching.

ReplyDeleteOh yeah the boys would certainly love to have an animal humidifier in their room. Did you take a look at all the others. There's even a train. ♥ Madison
DeleteMy husband and I were just talking about the fact that we really need to invest in a humidifier. I don't have kids, but I would love that little owl! :) I saw an elephant variety similar to this one at Target, but this one is much cuter!
ReplyDeleteMommy and I think that's a great idea. Humidifiers aren't just for kids so you can certainly get one. I agree that owls are cuter than elephants. ♥ Madison
DeleteLove the owl! We have a penguin one made by the same company that I bought several years ago. So cute!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! I'm so happy that you have one and an animal too. That's great! ♥ Madison
DeleteOh my gosh that is the cutest humidifier I have ever seen! My grandchildren have been sick for a week and need a good humidifier and this would be perfect for them. I really like the fact that it is quiet some of them are so loud it is hard to sleep with it going. I love the great variety of animals they have-they even have a Hello Kitty one!
ReplyDeleteOh yes they do have Hello Kitty. I am not a big Hello Kitty fan but I am so into owls. I'm sorry that your grandchildren are sick. I hate being sick so I know they hate it too. Hope they feel better soon. ♥ Madison
DeleteOh, those darn colds, they are so pesky and irritating! I love the little owl and the other animals and think I will have to get one for myself - even if I am an "old" woman!
ReplyDeleteYes I don't like colds either. They really can be annoying. And you're not an old woman you're just a bigger version of me. ♥ Madison
DeleteI’ve wanted one of these humidifiers for a while. I love the review, because there are a lot of things I didn’t know about. The auto on/off feature is great. I also didn’t think about a humidifier helping with itchy dry skin.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy I was able to help you learn a little bit more about humidifiers. I hope you'll now go out and get one as well. ♥ Madison
DeleteWe have one of these in the shape of a Penguin. And I agree they are fabulous to have during cold and flu season!

ReplyDeleteI agree you should have gotten another one but it's not too late. You can still get one right now. You can even have your daughter choose the one she loves. ♥ Madison

The cool mist machines came to the market in response to a problem, burns. If you're careful about avoiding scalds, there's little to choose between them. The modern humidifier are easily moved to one place another place, its have highly features, try this once.
