Chicka Chicka 123

So everyone likes to get mail and I’m no exception. I especially love getting those boxes with the smiley face on them. We all know who that’s from. 🙂

When there’s something in the package for me it always comes with my name labeled on the box. That means it’s mine and I get to open it. Today my box with the smiley face came and I opened it with help from mommy and was super surprised at what was inside.

It was a brand new book. Chicka Chicka 1 2 3 by Bill Martin Jr. I have his other book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and I love it. It helps me to learn my alphabet and this one is supposed to help me with my numbers.

This one though was a little disappointing and did not keep my attention like Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. Maybe I’m just too little to enjoy it and would love it once I get used to it and have read it numerous times like I’ve done Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. In term of size as well, 1 2 3 is a LOT bigger than Boom Boom for a board book and would not fit nicely in your baby bag. This means that you may not be taking it along with you on your doctor visits to keep your little one like me entertained.

1 2 3 is not as compact for your baby bag as Boom Boom

Here’s an excerpt from Chicka Chicka 1 2 3:

1 told 2 and 2 told 3, “I’ll race you to the top of the apple tree”.

“Climb,” said 4 to 5 and 6, bright little numbers that join the mix.

“Hurry!” yelled 7 to number 8, slow-poke fellow who’s always late.

“Chicka Chicka 1, 2, 3… Will there be a place for me?”

This went all the way counting normally to 20, then jumped into intervals of 10’s until it got to 90, then here all of a sudden was 99. Unlike Chicka Chicka Boom Boom that said all 26 letters of the alphabet this one didn’t do much in terms of helping me count from 20 to 30 but my mommy will help me with that.

Me reading Chicka Chicka 1 2 3

I did get to meet the number Zero who is the hero of the story. He joined up with 10 and they made 100. Zero may be shy and think he doesn’t belong in the tree but at the end he found his place.

It teaches a great story. We may be little but we all have our place in this great big world. We just have to find it.
