Tieks at Walt Disney World? ~ #TieksNo

Tieks and Walt Disney World? I share my real life experience of wearing Tieks at Walt Disney World for a few hours.

I LOVE TIEKS, no ifs, ands or buts about that. If you haven't joined in on the Tieks bandwagon, what are you waiting for? Tieks generally start at $175 and up, and the prints are truly lovely. I think the hardest decision you may make, might be actually finding the pair you want to buy first. When I purchased my very first pair, it took me almost 2 weeks to decide on the color. I'm now the proud owner of 10 pairs, with quite a few more on my wish list. Deciding which one to take out of my wishlist and add to my cart almost gave me a migraine, so they're going to stay there for a while.

We recently returned from Walt Disney World where I decided that I was going to walk with a few pairs of Tieks, because I just loved how comfortable they were. Granted, I've only wore them to the store and back, so technically, I've really only wore them for about an hour or two, never really longer than that. It's generally into the car, into the store, and back to the car. Out to dinner, into the car and you get the picture. I wanted to wear my Poppy Tieks at Disney's Magic Kingdom to make my ordinary white tee and denim pop. I wanted a bit of color. Now what I'm going to tell you, might come as a big shock. After all, I just said how much I love Tieks.

The day started off as any regular day at Walt Disney World. We left around 2pm so we could get to our fast pass rides, and we intended to stay until the fireworks. I do Disney at least twice a year, so I knew where to sit in the shade, when I needed to cool down etc. Our plan was simple, get to our fast pass rides, since we knew the park layout, then maybe hit up a ride or two to pass the time since we're only allowed 3 Fast Pass+ rides until late afternoon, and then relax until the fireworks. However, Tieks and Walt Disney World are a NO-NO! Whoever told me that wearing Tieks at Walt Disney World was a good idea, LIED to me. I should have known better, but I fell for the lie. I have been to Walt Disney World numerous times, and my one advice to everyone has always been, wear comfortable shoes, preferably sneakers. Now, don't get me wrong, Tieks are comfortable, but not Walt Disney World comfortable.

After walking and standing in line, which is what you generally do at Disney World, even if you have a Fast Pass+ reservation, I regretted my decision of actually wearing them. You know that quote:
Beauty is Pain
I mean, it totally made my bland outfit pop, don't get me wrong, but no-one should be in pain to look cute. My feet were hurting, hurting so badly that I couldn't enjoy myself. I actually wanted to take my Tieks off while waiting in line to see Mickey and throw them at him. I could feel every step I took, it felt like my feet were on fire. (Ugly feet photo ahead, you've been warned.)
This girl is on fire

By mid afternoon, I finally ended up taking them off right before we went into Tomorrowland. While there were no blisters, thank goodness, my feet were hurting badly and it was red and sore. The redness you see above though is from the color of my Poppy. I'm sure I was a sight. The little black girl standing on the side with her family, changing her shoes. After all, who brings an extra pair of shoes into the park? I did! Since this was my test run of wearing Tieks for many hours at a Disney Park, I was smart enough to make the decision to walk with an extra pair. Lucky me!

OK, so bottom line!

Tieks are awesome, and are perfect for that dinner date or a stroll in Disney Springs. However, if you're planning on going to a theme park where you know you will be taking a million steps, DON'T DO IT!!! You might as well decide to walk barefoot. Walk with comfortable walking shoes that have been broken in and has support for your feet.

Do I still recommend that you own a pair of Tieks? I sure do, and always will! I'm currently debating on Leopard or Nude Lace. Maybe you can help me decide.

  1. Well, I think you know already that I am so with you on wearing comfortable shoes when visiting Disney all the times we have been there, too. So you won't get any arguments from me on this one at all!! 😉

  2. Thank you for being so honest with us. I have been seeing the ads pop up on Facebook and everywhere else about these shoes and have wondered about them. I even saw someone post that they wore them all day at Disney and it was super comfortable. I knew for sure that she was lying because she got it for FREE. There's no way that flats like those can take the beating that is handed out at Disney. They may be comfortable but surely not THAT comfortable. I'm glad you shared your experience. I just wish that more bloggers would keep it real whether they got the product for free or not. When you're spending almost $200 for a pair of shoes, you want the truth about that shoe. I will totally still get a pair because of you and wear it whilst going out, but keep my sneakers for Disney.

  3. Thank you so much for sharing this. I actually have a pair of tieks, and I love them. Now I know not to wear them for a full day of walking!

  4. I have found this to be true with some men's shoes, as well. It's amazing how comfortable a shoe can feel for an hour or two, but after 7 or 8, your feet are dying.

  5. Go with the Nude Lace pair. Like your honest opinion. They look great but not for tons of walking go it good to know.

  6. I have never had them but I get great shoes for the kids! So at least I give priority to my kids having great shoes, right?
As for you, I'd go leopard. For me? Red or fuschia!

  7. I only wear sneakers at Disney. It's the only way I can comfortable walk. We do A LOT of walking...like 25,000 steps a day, so I'm all for the comfort.

  8. Sometimes it so hard to choose comfort over beauty! Disney is made for SNEAKERS only! lol Sorry you had to learn the hard way!

  9. I wondered what you were going to say! We've been to Disney several times. The first time we went I wore tennis shoes...they hurt my feet. Then a friend of mine said to me that tennis shoes hurt because I wasn't used to ever wearing them..which is true, because I only wear flip flops or sandals 99% of the time. (I live in Florida) So the next time I went I wore my Yellow Box flip flops...they are super comfy. I've worn them for hours at a time before, so I figured I'd be good. Nope. I honestly ended up walking bare foot. (I know!) My feet hurt so bad. My calves were killing me as well. Lesson learned..get used to wearing tennis shoes first!

  10. Tieks looks so comfortable and stylish. I would love to wear them to go out. If I know I am going to be walking all day I always choose my trusty runners. I know I will not go wrong with them.

  11. I always wear sneakers at Disney! The parks really require you wear supportive shoes.

  12. Sounds like a painful test! I have heard so many great things about Tieks, but I can see why they aren't meant for long days on your feet and logging lots of steps! Sorry to hear you went through that, but great that you had a backup pair too.

  13. I have never tried Tieks before, but I am extremely particular about my shoes. This is good to know.

  14. I did that once and really regretted it. Since then I always wore sneakers in the parks. Tieks is new to me, but I will definitely check it out as I love flat shoes.

  15. Touch choice but I would go Nude Lace. Sometimes I think animal print is too played out. I appreciate your honesty about them. I am also glad to hear about them - I have absolutely never heard of them before now! I will have to get myself some!

  16. I love the leopard!! And thank goodness you brought an extra pair of shoes with you!!

  17. Thanks for you honest review on the Tieks. I think most flats are cool but because of the sole many ballet flats will hurt your feet too if you are walking on them for hours and hours.

  18. I have never owned one but I love the colors. I agree with you about Disney World, even with Fast Pass, you still go through a long line.

  19. I have never heard of Tieks but I am not much of a shoe person so I guess that could be why. I like a nice comfy pair of sneakers always.

  20. Tieks is awesome and it's super comfy but I'd never wear it to Disney World, it'll kill me feet! Lol. I have the same sentiments as you and it's better to just stick to wearing sneakers. Never again, at least not in theme parks.

  22. I first heard of Tieks a few years ago. While they are on the expensive side, they sound like a great investment.

  24. Tieks are the best! I wore mine when we went to Disney and you're right. They are cute and easy to take anywhere, but all day at Disney, you need a little extra support. Unless your feet are used to it

  25. Oh no being in pain is the worst!! I always go for runners

  26. I haven't found the Tiek love myself, not yet at least. However I can see why some might be tempted to wear them to Disney. Goodness I hope your post spares others some pain!

  27. I've been wanting to get a pair of Tieks. Thanks for sharing your experience. I sure won't wear it to Disney. ;)

  28. Yikes! Look how red your toes got! Although they are lovely shoes, I would stick to running shoes while visiting a themed park. If you haven't already bought a new pair, then go with the Nude Lace! Love it.

  29. I was reading your post and was like, there's no way her feet weren't killing her! Seems like an awesome shoe to tuck in though!

  30. Oh my gosh-- no, I would be okay with not being cute rather be miserable in cute shoes! LOL Thanks for giving us the 411 on Tieks at Disney! I want a pair, but I will not be wearing them to amusement parks!
