How to Keep Your Dogs Healthy and Active - #NaturesRecipe

My dogs are my family. I think I have said it hundreds of time before. They are my family and just like my kids, I want nothing but the best for them. Having a pet is a big responsibility and it's not just vet visits and groomer fees, it's also about the food that they eat. I have always fed my dogs high quality food, one of them being Natures Recipe. So when I found out that Nature's Recipe can now be found at Walmart, I was really excited and couldn't wait to share the news with you. I shop at Walmart constantly for myself so being able to buy my own home supplies as well as my dog's food is an easy way to "kill two birds with one stone" as they say.

I used to purchase Nature's Recipe for both my cocker spaniels, Bentley and Ella, at a dedicated pet specialty store, after it was recommended to me by one of the employees. I was looking for a different brand of food because they were both tired of the one that they were currently eating. I decided to give it a try after reading the ingredients and they ended up loving it. However, my pet store isn't as close as my Walmart. Knowing that Nature’s Recipe is now at Walmart makes it very convenient for me, and I'm pretty sure that it will be for most of you pet lovers as well.

Nature's Recipe contains no corn or wheat and is made with high-quality protein for both my dogs. There are no artificial flavors or preservatives and they also contain no poultry by-product meal. Their recipes are made with ingredients from nature to provide exactly what your dog needs to feel like his most vibrant self, each and every day. Just ask Bentley and Ella, who just love it. You can find them licking their lips after every meal. Nature's Recipe is definitely one high quality dog feed that I feel comfortable giving my pets because I know that the ingredients are good for them.

Today I also want to share with you three easy ways you can keep your dog healthy and active.

1. High quality dog food and treats:- Going into your pet store can be overwhelming. There are so many dog foods to choose from. However, you want to feed your dog a high quality dog food and dog treats. Look at the ingredients on the package and make sure that meat is the #1 ingredient. Make sure there are no by-products listed on the ingredients. Nature's Recipe always features meat as the #1 ingredient in their dry recipes making them a high source of protein for your fur baby.

2. Vet Care:- While no one likes visiting the doctor, it's important that you take your family pet to a vet on a regular basis. Find a vet that you can trust and one that your dog feels comfortable with. Routine visits will ensure that problems with your furry friend's health are caught early and can be taken care of ensuring a longer, healthier life.

3. Exercise:- While having a "chunky" dog might look good, it's not good for your dog to be overweight. Having an overweight dog can eventually lead to health problems. Feeding your dogs a balanced diet such as Nature's Recipe, will ensure that they have lots of energy, energy that they need to burn off. Take your dogs for walks and/or runs to the local dog park. If there is no dog park you can take them for a walk around your neighborhood. It's also a form of exercise for you as well.

And last, but not least, love your dogs unconditionally and keep them healthy and active, by feeding them Nature's Recipe, now available at Walmart.

Let's discuss: How do you help keep your dogs healthy and active?

  1. Nature's Recipe sounds like a good choice as far as dog food goes. We all want to keep our pups healthy and active.

  2. Thanks for sharing! Our dog has been so sensitive to the grains and some of the other things they sneak into the foods. I'm going to give this a try! :)

  3. Absolutely great dog care advice and having a three year old dog as of today (yup it is Elsa's birthday today), I have learned so many of these along the way and still learning as I go along. And need to try Nature's Recipe with her now, too :)

  4. Great tips. I always try to make sure my dogs stay active, and I never feed them foods with grain. Grain was not meant for dogs.

  5. This was a great read for me as someone who doesn't own dogs. I had no idea food was so important.

  6. I've never really thought about dog nutrition. I don't have a dog. It makes perfect sense that you wouldn't want to feed them grain, though. I've seen a ton of nature documentaries, and I've never once seen a wolf chowing down on plants.

  7. My dogs have always been part of our family too. It is good to see there are more healthy food options popping up on the market.

  8. Like you said, regular exercise, high quality food and treats, and regular vet appointments! And out here, we have to worry about tick pills. Ugh!

  9. I don't have any dogs but it seems like yours are very well taken care of. And can we talk about how adorable they are?! Love them.

  10. I am a kitty mom and am ALL about making sure she has good nutrition and the best of everything. We have a water fountain for her "water bowl" to keep it fresh and we are mindful of playing with her and vet visits... all of it! So - love your tips for dog parents!

  11. I would definitely prioritize healthy dog food! We've had diet-related problems with pets before!

  12. Wonderful suggestions for any pet owner! Our dog is on anti-seizure medications which tend to make him gain weight, so making sure he stays active is extra important.

  13. I don't have any dogs but I always believe that it is important to feed your pets and make sure they have enough nutrition. Nature's recipe sounds great x

  14. What a beautiful dog! I have a 4lb yorkie and all he needs everyday is some play time. He can barely last walking. haha

  15. I loved having dogs when I was growing up, but I don't have any now. I agree that giving them good nutrition is important!

  18. It isn't so important to feed your dogs well. After all, they are just another member of the family.

  19. We probably need to try this food. Our poor old fella is nearing the age of 15.

  20. That is awesome that it is at Walmart! I love that it is gran free. My dog is a picky little bugger and only eats grain free good food lol

  21. My little Shih Tzu is my walking buddy. He gets lots of exercise that way. We also make sure we feed him well and choose his dog food carefully. I have to try this Nature's Recipe brand of dog food. I love that it is grain free so it is tummy friendly!

  22. It is easy to forget the incredible resources and tools we have when it comes to exercising our dogs. For example, food is a key element to motivating many dogs, while the hunt for food is another motivator. Sometimes, it’s as simple as nurturing your pooch’s instincts, and other times training is involved. No matter what, there are always options!

  23. I want a dog so badly. A friend was cruel to her dog (I say friend - I used to work with her so I didn't know her that well) and could never be bother to walk her dog. Eventually it got taken away and put into a new home. So walking your dog is very important. xx

  26. Our golden retriever has some outside time to run around and play every day. He loves to play fetch so that keeps him running!

  27. I've heard mental health for dogs is important too. It sounds like a "duh' statement but the more I think about it I realize we don't exercise their brains like we should. A good one I read was hiding treats they love and teaching them to find it.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I need to look into this food for my dog. I have such a hard time finding a food that agrees with him!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I love that it's grain free AND available at Walmart. I hate making an extra trip to the pet store just for dog food!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'll have to tell my mom about this food. She was just saying that she needed to find a new brand for her fur baby!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I've never heard of this dog brand, but I will have to check it out for my lab! Excercising is so important, especially for a large breed dog

    ReplyDelete
  32. I bet your daughter is a good caregiver to the pups. I dont have dogs but I know this is a good brand.

    ReplyDelete
  33. So important to give dogs their proper food. I hate it when people feed our dog table food! He always gets the runs and it's not healthy! Your two doggies are beautiful BTW :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. I don't have a dog because of allergies but we have a cat and finding a quality food is so important and can have major benefits.

    ReplyDelete
  35. We just brought home our first furbaby a few weeks ago! Right now we are still using the food that the breeder gave us, but I am definitely researching all options for the future!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I don't have any dog I used to a long while ago, but I am considering getting a fur baby and this sounds like a good food choice. Will also tell my aunt this is awesome for her fur baby Bella <3

  37. Having a dog is certainly a big responsibility. They have to be fed and exercised daily as well as loved and played with. It's really touching to read about how much you love your dogs and care for them by also giving them the very best food available.

  39. We have a very active husky that helps to keep our entire family exercising! She needs to be active everyday but as she is getting older we definitely need to look at a weight control dog food!

    ReplyDelete
  40. My pup can only eat grain free. Otherwise, it is stinky city. I always joke that Rhodesian Ridgebacks are the only dogs with celiac. But feeding him the best food we can find is essential for his longterm health.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Awe this hits home because I have a yorkie poo! (: he def gets lots of ecevrise , but we feed him a lot of snacks so I'm always telling my mom we need to cut back on that

    ReplyDelete
  42. It made a huge difference in my dog's health when we changed their food and how active they were. Getting them outside and active made a huge difference.

    ReplyDelete
  43. My pups love this brand. They eat it and discard it well.

    ReplyDelete
  44. My dog is so far from picky. She had to have surgery to have rocks removed that she had gobbled up in my parents' back yard. I have to be mindful to feed her healthy food (and keep her away from rocks).

    ReplyDelete
  45. I haven't heard of this brand before and will definitely check it out. We have two small pups at home!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Oh I love the idea of grain free dog food! So often so much of it is grain and not the protien most of them need.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I keep my dog active by taking a lot of walks with her. She also likes to chase after her toys and a few of her favorite balls. She will bring a ball back to me, put it in the palm of my hand (like she's sharing it with me) but not necessarily like to give it up.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I feed my dalmatian natures recipe, he loves it. Keep him healthy with 3 walks a day, and the occasional run 2-3 times a week,

    ReplyDelete
  49. my pup loves nature's recipe. we buy a few of the smaller bags at a time rather than a huge bag. so it doesn't go stale

    ReplyDelete
  50. My daughter has two dogs and she is great with them. She loves to walk with them. It keeps them both in shape.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Love this post. I hate it when people allow their dogs to become really overweight and don't bother to take them out for walks etc. Although they look cute when they're chunky it's really not healthy x

    ReplyDelete
  52. We don't have Walmart in town, but I think I saw this brand on amazon. We have a large dog, so we definitely buy lots of dog food.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I first have to say that I love your daughter's hair!!! I don't have any pets but I'll have to pick this up for my cousin

    ReplyDelete
  54. keeping your dog active is SO important We have a pup that gets into WAY too much trouble when she hasnt had enough exercise!
