United Airlines Introduces Kids Snackbox

We love to travel, A LOT! And while most of our flights are usually international, traveling means that I almost always have kids along with me. My pre-schooler Madison, is normally the one traveling alongside me and there are a few things that I always take along with me when we fly. If you've traveled with kids, you know what I'm talking about. A snack and most definitely something to entertain. In the event that you've forgotten those said things and you happen to be flying with United Airlines, it's great to know that they've got you covered. Beginning May 1st, United Airlines launched a new Kids Snackbox available for purchase onboard their flights. Woohoo! It's about time an airline did!

I have a very picky daughter, a daughter who is a food snob and who turns up her little nose and mouth at almost everything she is served. Unfortunately for us most of the items on those inflight menus are mostly geared towards adults. Have you ever looked at the menus while on your flight? Sure, there might be sandwich or two and a few snacks that you may not even want to eat, much less your child, so I was happy to hear that United Airlines is finally doing something and making items available for kids that they'd be interested in.

These new snackboxes are made especially for kids with kids in mind. The 'Ben Flyin' snackbox features United's adventure bear on the outside of the box, and on the inside, kids will enjoy some delicious apple sauce, fruit snacks, animal crackers and a turkey stick. Also included is a set of Wikki Stick to help pass the time on those long and sometimes boring flights.

Madison couldn't wait to dig in her snacks and for once she didn't complain. She loved the apple sauce, loved the fruit snacks, loved the Wikki Sticks, was iffy about the animals crackers and turkey stick, but she did eat them all and the ultimate consensus was that it was a hit! And if my very picky daughter said it was a hit, I'm pretty sure that it will be a hit with most parents and kids too! So the next time you're in the market for a flight with a child in tow, consider flying with United Airlines!

Let's discuss: Are you excited about United Airlines new offering?

    1. Isn't it? I'm really excited to hear that at least one US airline is doing it and I hope all the others start doing it as well.

  2. That looks like a pretty amazing box especially for long trips. Is it free for the kids? Do they offer a second one if kids want more?

    1. Unfortunately you do have to purchase it and they can get as many as you want as long as you're willing to pay for it. :)

  3. I think that is a great looking snack box that United Airlines is introducing. It looks tasty and healthy plus, I think it's pretty neat that they include a little activity/toy to keep the kiddies busy.

    1. I know, isn't that great. I know I've forgotten to take along a snack because I had it in the refrigerator and was rushing. Had to buy those expensive snacks at the airport and it sucked!

    1. Oh yes it truly is and I'm super excited myself. I can truly see United getting more business from me just because of this little addition, but it's the little things that count when you're traveling with kids.

  6. That's so cool that they are introducing these kids snackboxes. The last time I traveled with Tristan we had the choices between peanuts and Pringles chips lol

    1. Hahaha Marielle, tell me about it. We have flown on quite a few flights where that's all they had available too. It's good to know that Madison can have something nutritious to eat when we fly.

  7. What a great little snack box to be provided by the airline, I can imagine keeping a fussy eater, eating on a long journey can be hard.

    1. I know and unless I provide my own snacks, the ones that airlines usually provide are no good. This is a step in the right direction. Thanks United!

    1. Oh me too. Like seriously I'm tired of Pringles and peanuts. This is a lot more up my alley and I ate the turkey stick and it was delish!

    1. Oh tell me about it. I've been traveling with Madison since she was 3 months old and while she's accustomed to flying and loves it, when she's in the air for too long she can get cranky so this is good for us.

  11. That is fantastic that they are now catering to children. Children need to be fed on airlines too and not just grotty airfare lol!

    1. You are right but before they were catered to as adults, now they have something just for them although I'd be tempted to get it for me too.

  12. I am rather excited about it! Travel can be rough with kids, and snacks are always the easiest way to make them happy. And that makes everyone happy. Also, I want one of those Snack Sticks. YUM.

  18. That is great that they came up with these. Their typical snacks for adults are too boring for kids. I think Terri is onto something with coming up with similar adult boxes!

    1. I agree wholehearted with Terri. Actually those adult snacks can be boring for us too. :)

  19. Perfect. Often travelling with the kids, the main issue is, what can we get from the food trolly. Rather then spending forever deciding, this is so much better.

    1. Oh yes it sure is. Usually what is available are items the kids aren't even interested in so this is great!

  20. This is a great idea. It can be so hard to go on a plane with the kids. I will have to share this with my friends with kids.

    1. Traveling is mine when I'm going by myself or with Madison. When the entire family is coming along we usually do road trips, unless we're heading out of the country of course. United Airlines just made my day with this.

  22. That's a really nice addition to their services! I wish they'd have more than pretzels for me, though!

    3. @Amber you can truly ask for one. We're all kids at heart as I like to say. :)

  26. My younger son is very picky too which is why I think this snack box is such a great idea. Hungry kids can be a terror, especially when traveling by plane.

    2. That's smart of them to create a snackbox just for kids. It's good incentive to get the kids to sit contentedly too while flying. I am not beyond bribery if need be, though my kids have always been great on flights (knock on wood). They'd still love this though.

    3. It truly is Rosey and I agree since there's something in there for everything. Snacks to munch on and an activity to keep them busy.

  30. Oh my, the people of United Airlines are geniuses. These snacks would perfectly suit all my kids-from the 18-month-old to the 13-year-old. They're tasty and even have some protein to keep those tummies feeling full. Cool idea, United!
