Saving My Sanity and Money with Walmart Family Mobile PLUS

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and Walmart Family Mobile. All opinions are mine alone. #DataAndAMovie #CollectiveBias

We recently took a trip to New York City to visit family and introduce my youngest to family members and friends we hadn't seen in a very long time. I stayed with family members and thought that I would be fine in terms of my data plan with my cell phone company. My thoughts were on the up and up but I totally forgot how much data one can run through if you're not on an unlimited data plan. Think about not being on an unlimited data plan and not having wi-fi readily available as well. If there's one thing that my family members go through in my household it's data. We are constantly online, whether it's surfing the web, social media, playing games, yes playing games, my kids can run through our data plan like there's no tomorrow. It really hurts when you get a text or email from your cell phone company saying, you have used the maximum data allowed on your plan and will be billed $14.99 per gb here on after. What?!!! Are you kidding me? I just plopped down hundreds of dollars for a phone, another couple of hundreds of dollars for a family plan and we have to pay MORE? Granted to say it was time to make a change.

Being a blogger I'm constantly online and constantly on the go. Being a blogger who has a pre-schooler on her hands and no data while out and about is definitely a no-no! I need something to keep her entertained while we're going on our long drives and I also need something where I'm not worrying about how much data I have left on my monthly plan. Take for example my 15 year old and I'm sure if you have teenagers you can relate. I'm not sure how one kid can go to school, come home and stay on the phone with the same people he was just in school with for how many hours a day. They are constantly looking at YouTube videos and commenting about them via text or phone calls, talking to each other on social media and wherever he goes, his cell phone goes along with him too. It's like an extension of himself. So when I found out about Walmart Family Mobile PLUS plan featuring Unlimited Talk, Text, & Data which includes up to 10GB of 4G LTE data PLUS a free movie on VUDU ($7 value) every month per line for $49.88. I knew that this was the plan for us.

Since I am always at Walmart for one thing or the other anyway I decided to check out their cellphone section and choose the plan and phone that would work for me. I decided on the HTC Desire 626 Smartphone. I've always been a fan of the HTC line and at only $129 how could I resist. What I've always loved about HTC is their simplicity and this one featured an 8mp rear facing camera which would allow me to take super crisp sharp photos for the times when my DSLR isn't available. It also offered up to 30hrs of talk time and 761hours of standby time. That was just too amazing. I grabbed my phone, my starter sim pack, headed to check out line and was home and activated in no time.

Now my sanity will be saved. I will be able to go out and not have to worry about my data running out. My daughter will be able to play her games while we're out and about and the best thing is that it doesn't cost me an arm and leg, which means that I also save money. I get unlimited data, talk and text for under $50 and every month we get a movie for FREE which we will be enjoying on our Smart TV or gaming console! No other network offers you those kind of perks. So now we're all happy. So if you're in the market for a new mobile phone and carrier, check out Walmart Family Mobile, you won't be disappointed. Check them out today!

Let's discuss: How would unlimited data, talk, text and a free movie from Walmart Family Mobile make your life easier?

  1. I am locked in with Verizon Wireless under their unlimited data plan, so I am never leaving, but this sounds like a good plan b - just in case.

    1. I originally had unlimited data with Sprint but recently switched because I thought it would be saving me money. I ended up not saving at all.

  7. I am also under contract with Verizon but there are so many great plans out there - and much more affordable. Once my contract is up - I will definitely entertain moving my service.

    1. I think the same way that you do. I'm with Sprint and there are so much more affordable plans out there that I'm thinking of switching permanently as well.

  8. I like that it's cheaper. We currently have Straight Talk with Walmart but this is way cheaper and sounds better. So checking out for son.

  9. I practically live on wifi and if I'm out and it's not available I try to get by since we don't have unlimited data. My family gets annoyed by my friendly "reminders" to do the same, but it's worked out pretty well for us for the most part.

    1. That's what I thought would have worked for me too when I switched from my unlimited data plan. Unfortunately it didn't work out well for me. We ended up going way over.

  10. I would be on social media sites more often using my phone if I had unlimited data. I think this deal is super reasonable and would work for a lot of families.

  16. We are currently with another carrier, however, this would be a great idea if we decide to leave the one we are with. I understand as I have a 13 yr old and a 4 yr old. They use just as much data as I do! Thankfully my husband doesn't use his as much.

  17. As a blogger, business owner and a virtual assistant, being connected is not only a convenience thing, but my livelihood depends on it! Having a reliable network and unlimited talk, text and data is an absolute necessity for my business. Bonus that it is affordable!

    1. Oh most definitely. I know as a blogger I need to always be online and without my data I'd be lost.

    1. I wouldn't say this is a nice kid starter phone since I would actually recommend this for adults too. Actually I would rather have this than a few others which I would more recommend for kids.

  19. That sounds like an awesome plan! It is great for a kid's first phone.

    1. Hi Autumn, as mentioned above, no this is not really a kids first phone. While you can get it, depending on how old your child is, I would say that something much cheaper would be better for them.

  20. While this isn't a bad plan I just recently saw a Metro PCS commercial that stated $30 for unlimited everything but I'm wondering what the catch is. Usually when it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

    1. I saw that commercial myself just recently and I myself wondered what the catch was. At least with this one there's none.

  21. I actually need a new phone plan. I have Sprint and they suck big time. My calls are always dropping and sometimes there isn't even any service. At least they're better than T-Mobile but I need something reliable. I was going to check out Verizon but their service is way too expensive.

    1. Oh I totally know what you mean because I actually still am contracted under Sprint and had T-Mobile before as well.
