Keep Your Little One's Mind Active with the Little Scholar Tablet

I'm not sure about most kids but my kids are in love with technology. I have never been that mom who said "my kids will only watch half an hour of TV a day", however I don't let the TV babysit my kids. While the older kids love their video games, my youngest Madison NEVER goes anywhere without her iPad. You may not remember this, but I did a post almost 3 years ago about our favorite toddler iPad apps and I posted a picture of Madison at age 5 1/2 months already using my iPad at the time. Since then I've had to get one for her very own. It was the only way I was able to use my iPad. However if you're familiar with the app store, most of the apps almost always have in app purchases. That means that sometimes you have to spend more money. One of her favorite at the moment is YouTube Kids (more on that in another post) and while I don't mind her watching, it can get out of control really quick when the educational videos turn into something else. I'm talking about videos of unboxing toys, grownups playing with toys and even more toys. No learning there at all. Well there is a solution out there for all you mommies and daddies who feel my pain. Introducing the Little Scholar Tablet by School Zone Publishing, designed for children in preschool, kindergarten and first grade (ages 3 to 7).

Before I go into what the Little Scholar Tablet has to offer. Let me tell you a bit more about School Zone Publishing so you know that THEY know what they're doing. We're talking about educators here, not someone who just decided to wake up one morning and make a tablet for kids.
"Almost 40 years ago, long-time educators James Hoffman, Ed.D., and his wife Joan Hoffman, M.A., began a retail supply outlet for teachers, then soon identified a need for at-home learning materials to help parents support and supplement their children’s classroom instruction. School Zone Publishing fast emerged as the market leader in workbooks and flash cards for preschoolers through sixth graders."

What's in the box?

Opening up your box, you will find included the Little Scholar Tablet, the power cord and an easy to grip textured protective bumper. That was the main selling point for me. We all know that little kids have butter fingers, what that means is that everything they hold always somehow find their way to the floor. However I can rest safe knowing that when this falls it will be protected. And I didn't even need to run out to the store to buy it. The Little Scholar tablet also comes ready to play straight out of the box. While it is wi-fi enabled you DO NOT need to be connected in order to play, this feature is perfect for travel. I can't tell you how many times we have left the house and there's an app that didn't work because it needed to be connected. Now this is perfect! The wi-fi can also be locked an unlocked and there are parental controls which allows me to customize the apps, which all is done by me entering my password. So there is no chance of her unlocking it on her own.

Over 150 Educational Apps & A+ Reporting

Now while this comes loaded with over 150 educational age/grade appropriate apps. The curriculum includes reading, math, science, spelling etc. In Madison's case when we select the Pre-K curriculum she can choose between activities such as learning the alphabet or her numbers. There is even an app to help her learn to differentiate the different shapes. What I however love is the A+ Reporting app. It is designed to hep me monitor her progress. I can see how long she stays on a topic, which is her favorite and what she may need help improving upon. I've learned that her hand-eye coordination is really good, her favorite app is Memory Jr and her creativity is awesome! Guess what? I already knew that.

Fun Camera and Expandable

Here's another feature that she has been taking advantage of and one that your child would approve of. It comes with a rear facing 2mp camera which isn't the best but for a young child is great. The photo above is what I took with the camera. You even get to do special effects on each photo that you take. Now while the Little Scholar Tablet comes with 8GB of internal memory, it does however have a Micro SD slot and is expandable up to 32GB. This is great news for those who want to download more apps for the kids without having to worry about running out of space.

So here are my Top 5 reasons You Should Get the Little Scholar Tablet for your own little one.

1. It's a tablet made just for kids with age appropriate curriculum to stimulate their mind. Lots of educational apps, A+ Reporting system and parental controls.

2. Made to play right out of the box. No need to go to the app store and spend money downloading apps.

3. Comes with the protective bumper. Most tablets you would have to spend some extra money to get the added protection.

4. Wi-fi enabled, Camera and is expandable up to 32GB.

5. Affordability. It is priced cheaper than most tablets on the market today at a MSRP $129.99.

So here's a quick video of what I've been talking about:

So if you’re tired of your kids stealing your iPad or other tablet, then the Little Scholar Tablet is the perfect solution! They'll have 8 inches of educational fun and it's a tablet you won't feel guilty about them being for lengthy amount of times because this is one tablet they will not want to put down. Remember learning doesn't have to end when your child leaves the classroom. That's why The Little Scholar Tablet gets Madison's TWO TINY THUMBS UP!

Here are the ways you can connect with School Zone Publishing:

Let's discuss: What's your favorite feature of the Little Scholar Tablet?

  9. I don't have kids yet, but I have mixed feelings about introducing tablets to kids. Because the way our society is so obsessed with technology I fear some kids get too much screen time. However it is great that the tablet allows for educational experiences so at least it is screen time well spent!
