Cool Mint Body Butter

At the beginning of the year I shared with you our Cool Mint Body Scrub, and I was supposed to follow up with our Cool Mint Body Butter. It's been a post long in the making and believe me I've wanted to post it about a million times, but I like to say better late than never. If you loved our body scrub, you are most definitely going to love the butter since they go hand in hand. The smell of mint is oh so relaxing and will make for the perfect bedtime routine, and believe it or not it is also super easy to make. There's nothing more relaxing than a bath that smells of mint and then lathering up with a nice butter that smells just as great. I know you'll love it and the best thing is you know exactly what you're putting on your body. No ingredients that you can't read or don't understand. What's not to love?

Here is what you'll need:

Ingredients:

½ C. Shea butter

½ C. Coconut oil

3-4 drops of green food coloring (optional)

Mint or Peppermint extract

Directions:

#1. Add the Coconut oil and the Shea butter to a small saucepan. Heat on low until melted, mixing well. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let set until cooled to room temperature.

#2. Scoop the mixture into a bowl and set in the fridge for 15-20 minutes.

#3. Remove from the fridge and add the green food coloring (optional) and the mint/peppermint extract. Use a hand mixer to beat the ingredients until whipped (2-3 minutes).

#4. Scoop the body butter into an airtight container, such as a mason jar and seal. Keep the body butter at room temperature for about 6 months. If you see an separation simply stir well.

Now you have the other half to your body scrub. I hope you enjoy using them both and if you get the chance to actually make them, please let me know how you enjoy them by posting on our facebook page or even sending us a twitter tweet. I love to hear from my readers. Now go on with your bad selves and enjoy our cool mint body butter.

  11. I love the term "cool mint." I have peppermint essential oil at home. It's pretty pure but I'm wondering if I could use that instead.

  14. This sounds just plain lovely, especially since mint is one of my favorite scents. I bet it would be nice with Lavender, too.
