Skylanders Trap Team Video Game

What's one of the hottest video game to hit the market? If you answered the Skylanders franchise you'll be right! If you've been with me for a while you may have remembered my post last year about the Skylanders Swap Force. My family are huge gamers and my brother Mikael is probably the biggest one. He has been playing as a toddler and this is by far his favorite game. He has them all from the very beginning so he was super excited when once again Activision, the makers of the Skylanders franchise, sent him the brand new and highly anticipated Skylanders Trap Team this year. This was already on his wish list for his birthday so thank you Activision, you made him one happy little kid.

In Skylanders your toys literally comes to life within the games. In Trap Team they not only come to life inside the game but they also "magically" come to life outside the game as well. Your child can take their Skylanders with them in their "traps" and it's an experience you just have to see to believe. One thing that we have always loved about the Skylanders game is that although they are stand alone games, meaning that you don't need to have played the others in order to play this one, the characters are all playable within each game that you own. So our characters from the very first game, Skylanders Spyro Adventures can also be used in Skylanders Trap Team.

Here is a summary of what Trap Team is all about:
"In Skylanders Trap Team, Kaos, the grand master of evil continues his ongoing quest to rule over Skylands.  He has discovered the location of the legendary Cloudcracker Prison -- a fortress built entirely out of the magical substance Traptanium and home to Skylands’ most nefarious villains.  In an attempt to build his own army of foes, Kaos blows up the prison, releasing the most wanted villains and blasting shards of Traptanium to Earth in the form of Traps.  Now it’s up to Portal Masters to recapture all of the escaped villains using powerful Traptanium Traps and defeat Kaos before it’s too late!"
There are a few new characters that has been introduced to the Trap Team squad including SnapShot and Food Fight who are included in the starter pack. Each character has a unique personality and you get to upgrade them by buying their powers from the coins that you collect by destroying their enemies. Your older characters all come into Trap Team complete with their upgrades and levels, but can also be reset if you decide that you want to play with them as a brand new character. There are about 50 new characters that can be purchased and if you're into collecting them then this is what will bring up the price value of this game.

Skylanders Trap Team introduces a ground-breaking innovation that lets Portal Masters “trap” the most wanted villains in Skylands and then play as them in the game in the battle for good. The game offers an unprecedented new addition to the game’s play pattern in the form of Traptanium Traps. When this new type of toy is placed directly into the Traptanium PortalTM, Portal Masters can “capture” a variety of special villains from the game and magically transport them from Skylands into the real world.  A built-in audio speaker allows players to magically hear the unique voices of the villains travel from the game into the real world Trap, and vice versa.  The Trap also lights up in sync with the villain speaking, adding even more magic to the experience.

In Skylanders Trap Team, you can play as a Skylander or capture Skylands’ most wanted foes and unleash them for good. It’s up to Portal Masters to find these villains and capture them inside the new Traps that transport the villains into the real world via the Traptanium Portal.  Once trapped, players can return the villain to Skylands as a playable character. This exciting new play pattern gives fans the option to switch between playing as a Skylander hero or a villain at any time, creating fun and unique “tag team” gameplay for both the single player and co-op experience.

Themed Trap designs add variety to the collectible Skylanders Trap Team experience.  Each Trap is elementally aligned, letting players capture villains who fall under that element. For instance, when Portal Masters explore the world of Skylands and encounter a water villain, they can insert a water Trap into the Traptanium Portal to capture that villain, as well as bring that villain back into Skylands as a playable character who helps in the fight for good. If players don’t have the correct Trap for a villain they encounter, the defeated villain will be held in a Villain Vault at the Skylanders Academy, where Portal Masters can keep track of the foes they have captured. When the player buys the correct Trap, they can transfer the villain from the Vault into the Trap in order to play as that character.   With each new Trap added to their collection, Portal Masters unlock an exciting world of possibilities!

Skylanders Trap Team features an all-new adventure-filled story with fun and interesting new characters as well as returning franchise favorites.  The game delivers a diverse and dynamic, story-driven gameplay experience, filled with adventure, combat, puzzles, mini games such as the new Kaos Challenge Mode, activities, platforming, and drop-in/drop-out co-op play -- all set within a variety of lush, compelling environments.

Skylanders Trap Team is a game that is fun for everyone young and old alike. You'll become addicted really quickly and will find yourself playing for hours without realizing how fast the time has passed. Trapping the villains and using them for good is truly a great feature and we love that we can "trap" and take the villains with us outside the game. Game play is easy and even the youngest of players will enjoy it.
