Rupert’s Tales: A Book of Bedtime Stories

Hey yippee yay! It's still our Toddler Book Talk Tuesday Day! I did tell you when we began our Toddler Book Talk series that I did have quite a list of books that I wanted to share with you. While most of them have been sent directly by the publisher there will be one or two that mommy have gotten for me that I want to share with you as well. There are so many benefits when it comes to reading with and to your children. Not only has my vocabulary increased but reading takes you to another world. You can become so engrossed in a book that reality sometimes seems like it stops. Today I want to share with you a truly delightful book that's perfect for bedtime. Rupert's Tales: A Book of Bedtime Stories. Bedtime for me is one of my favorite time of day. Not only do I get to take a warm bath and drink some warm milk, but I get read to before I go to sleep. One that has made it's way into my nighttime library has been this book.

Rupert’s Tales: A Book of Bedtime Stories was written by Kyrja and illustrated by Tonia Bennington Osborn. It's an enchanting collection of four rhyming bedtime stories and ones that your little ones will come to cherish and love. Now before I got my book I had no idea that there were other Rupert books. Kyrja has written at least 5 of these Rupert books including this one and I think I may have to collect them all.

Now on to our book.

As I mentioned before this book consists of 4 delightful stories all told in rhyme.

  • Rupert Goes to Sleep;
  • Rupert Dreams of a Purple Moon;
  • Mermaid Dreams and Seashells &
  • Guardian of Dreams

This is a hardcover book filled with 64 pages of rhymes and beautiful illustrations. You get to meet Rupert and his friends, Rachel the Racoon, Paige the Possum and Brody the Bat in 'Rupert Goes to Sleep'. Rupert was having such a difficult time sleeping when Brody who was tired from lack of sleep crashed into a tree. Together the learned the art of going to sleep.

"A safe place and a routine," said Paige,
"that's a good start."
"Think of  place you like that give you a happy heart."

Each story is beautifully told and the rhymes will grab your little one's attention. The illustrations will also delight them as well. It's a great way to encourage your little one to dream sweet dreams.

Now while this book is recommended for ages 5-8 it can be used with a younger child but in short bursts. Each story takes a while to read but I can guarantee that before you are done reading one story your little one would be fast asleep. Rupert's Tales A Book of Bedtime Stories makes the perfect bedtime story book and gets my TWO TINY THUMBS UP!

  8. I've always been a sucker for kids books because I just love the artwork. It's part author in me and part artist. I used to have quite a large collection long before kiddo came in to my life. Sadly, a lot of my books didn't make the 1600 mile move across the US.
