Goodnight Songs by Margaret Wise Brown

Disclaimer: I received products  for review purposes. No other compensation was received. Though the product was free, opinions are 100% my very own.

I recently received an email from a publisher asking me whether I would be interested in a particular book. While mommy usually says yes to most book this one was extra special. This one was written by one of my favorite authors. If you're one of those who have ever clicked on my profile you would see this name written in my list of favorite books. I'm talking about one of the best authors ever to have written children books, Margaret Wise Brown. I own quite a lot of her books and I think that her books should be staples in every home. One of my favorite Goodnight Moon is listed #1 on a post I did a VERY long time ago. If you haven't read it, I would suggest you reading about a few of my favorite books. Now if you don't own Goodnight Moon in your little one's library it's not too late to go out and get a copy. While you're out getting a copy, may I suggest picking up her latest book Goodnight Songs?

Goodnight Songs is the brand new way to say goodnight from Margaret Wise Brown. For those who don't know, Ms. Brown passed away over 45 years ago and her books are still bestsellers. Two of them being Goodnight Moon as I mentioned before and the Runaway Bunny. Two of my absolute favorite. Well when her writings of previously unpublished collection of charming lullabies were found in a trunk in a barn, a team of 12 award-winning artists decided to come together and do the most beautiful illustrations ever.

Goodnight Songs features 12 beautiful lullabies beautifully illustrated. One of our favorite was the "The Secret Song". The rhyme catches your little ones attention and is simple as most of Ms. Browns work is. It's the simplicity of her work that draws you in.

Here's an excerpt:
"Who saw the petals
Drop from the rose?
"I," said the spider.
"But nobody knows."

Since the book comes with the CD, it can be played at bedtime if you decide that you don't have the time to read the lullabies out loud. The mandolin playing along to the music is so soothing that your little one will be in bed before you know it.

With its stunning illustrations and accompanying CD of lullabies, Brown’s Goodnight Songs is an essential addition to any new mother’s library. What better way to celebrate the holidays than with this NYT Bestselling collection from one of the most-renowned children’s authors of all time? I totally expect this to become another staple in your little one's library.

I was super excited to receive my very own copy, and the only thing that would have made it better, would have been to receive an autographed copy if Margaret Wise Brown was still alive. Goodnight Songs is currently only available in hardcover and is available for purchase at Amazon and Barnes and Noble bookstores nationwide. I can't tell you how much I love my Goodnight Songs and you know it gets my TWO TINY THUMBS UP!

Check out the video of how this all came to be.
