Have a Mrs Field Moment and Make Every Moment Count

I am participating in this campaign as a member of  The Niche Parent Network & Conference in partnership with Mrs. Fields. All opinions are my own.

As most of you know, I'm from an active duty family. My mommy is active duty army and there are days on end when I don't see her because of her duty to her country. One of the hardest thing about being a military child, and please don't call me an army brat, is that we don't get to see our active duty parents whenever we want to. Mommy is usually gone by the crack of dawn and sometimes come back home when it's very dark out and I'm already asleep. There are weeks that she is gone and I'm all alone with daddy and my siblings. How she does it I can't tell you. I guess it's really called Army Strong.  When I do get to see her I'm usually very happy and almost always don't want her to leave. That picture is of me and mommy and I'm not happy because mommy was about to leave, whenever she is at home it's the happiest time of my life.  Family time means a lot to me like I'm sure it does for most people and spending quality time with my siblings is what it's all about. Mrs. Fields believes that every moment counts and is a proud supporter of the United Service Organizations, Inc. (USO). "Mrs. Fields Moments" builds on the Organization's "Every Moment Counts" campaign, which helps all families – military and otherwise – make the most of every moment together.

For those who don't know about the USO, it's an organization that is on almost every military base and most international airports, at hundreds of locations around the world. It's one of the major hangout spots for the military. A place where the military can feel safe and secure. A place that lifts the spirits of our military men and women when they're away from home. It's their home away from home. They not only support the active duty soldier but their families as well.

A lot of people don't really realize the sacrifices that active duty parents make not only for their country but their families as well. Mommy has missed birthdays, she has missed holidays and even graduations. Mrs. Fields have joined forces together with the USO to help give some of those moments back.

The USO’s Every Moment Counts campaign was created to rally Americans to help the USO provide simple, everyday moments that mean so much to our troops and their families.  The challenges of military life do not end when deployment does. For this reason, USO is committed to helping our troops and their families throughout their service – making every moment count – whether they are deployed or returning home.

With Mrs. Fields Moments, they're encouraging all families — military and otherwise — to make the most of every moment and dedicate every Sunday night to creating more memories. With their family conversation starters and collection of Sunday Snacktivities, they’re hoping you’ll take this one night to slow down, grab a box of Mrs. Fields cookies and truly savor your Sunday with the family.

Mrs. Fields just announced a contest that will send one lucky family to National Harbor in our nation’s capital! The contest encourages real families nationwide to designate time every week to enjoy a cookie together, and to share these “Mrs. Fields Moments” online.

  1. I think that it is so great that Mrs. Fields is teaming up for this amazing cause. We are not part of a military family but I know so many people who are and how hard it can be on their families due to the amazing sacrifices every member of the military makes for our country. I am so grateful for every member of our armed forces.

  16. What a terrific idea. Our military needs are support so bad. My son was an active Marine for many years and missed so many things. The birth of one of his sons, first steps and other simpler moments that he didn't have to bond with his kids. I know they missed him terribly when he was gone. It was so hard. This is a awesome contest! I hope you will show the winners!

  18. I love the fact that ms fields is teaming up to help such a great cause. I hate the fact that you miss your little ones birthday and graduations almost made me have few tears in my eyes I felt for you. I hate being away from my family I wish the government took better care of the active duty members of the military it's great there are good people still out there you volunteering your time away from your family while living on military budgets and dealing with homesickness and the emotional toil it will take on all of you mostly the little ones.

  20. I love to see that Mrs Fields is getting involved with the USO. When I was a Girl Scout leader several years ago, we would go to the airport and welcome soldiers home so we got to see some of the amazing work that the USO was doing for our military families.

  22. I have to first say that I love that photo. I can see that Madison was going to miss you. I have a friend who is stationed in Hawaii and went to Afghanistan not too long ago. He missed out a lot as well. His wife had just had his baby about 3 months before he left and even though he spent only 9 months he sure missed a lot. I love Mrs. Fields cookies and I'm happy that she's teaming up with the USO for this campaign. I'll now have to buy more of her cookies because of it.
