We are winding down our Car Passenger Safety Week and today we have the mac daddy of car seats to share with you. Do you know that term, “saving the best for last”? Well while all the car seats that we have reviewed this week have ALL been great there is something special about Diono.

This review was even updated after having our car seat safety chat with Diono on Tuesday. If you’re not aware, we have a #CarSeatSafety chat every Tuesday this month at 9:15pm EST on Twitter. Just use the hashtag and join in on the conversation. Diono was kind enough to join us this week and they were a fountain of information. With this being National Passenger Safety Month, that means that yes, mommies and daddies need to buckle up too. After all, what better way to teach your little one to be safe than to show them? With that being said, today our focus is on the Diono Radian RXT Convertible Car Seat.

Before I get into all the details of this amazing car seat you’re probably wondering what information was shared with us during our Car Seat Safety Chat. Well here goes:

  1. Did you know that Diono replaces your car seat in the event of a car crash. Yes they have a car seat replacement program if you meet the criteria.
  2. Diono Car Seats actually have 10 and 12 year warranties. Much longer than most children are in a car seat so it will last for a VERY long time. Remember car seats needs to be replaced after every crash.

Remember to get your car seats checked tomorrow, September 20th. For the nearest car seat safety check center, you can click here

Now on to the Diono Radian RXT Convertible Car Seat!

The seat comes collapsed and you need to open it to install in your vehicle. Now this is aircraft ready and folds flat for travel. For those with midsize vehicles you can fit 3 of these across. Awesome! This also comes with infant support cushions which I didn’t use since I’m no longer an infant.

This seats comes with a 5 point safety harness and is suitable from birth at 5lbs all the way to a booster seat up to 120lbs. That is the highest weight we have yet to meet with a convertible car seat. By the time your little one reaches 120lbs hopefully you won’t need a car seat any longer. The seats are very well padded and super comfy. The cover is also machine washable so your little one can ride in a clean comfy seat always.

The harness straps are padded making it super comfortable for your little one to wear. If you notice the chest buckle is made of hard plastic and not metal. This eliminates the worry of it being too hot when you’re out and about and it’s time to strap your little one into his/her seat.

Notice how comfortable I am strapped in. Also notice the placement of the chest strap. It should always be at armpit level when strapping your little one in. Not at the neck or the belly button, always at the armpits. You also don’t want it super tight but you should be able to at least put two fingers inside.

Now this feature was one of the coolest we have yet to find on ANY car seat. Right under the seat is a child emergency contact sheet.

This emergency information sheet for your little one has everything needed in the event of a car crash. In the event that you’re not able to talk and tell the EMT any info, it is all written down there for him to find.  Name, date of birth, medical allergies, medical conditions and of course emergency contact.

I so wish all car seat manufacturers would include this in their seats as well. Mommy sure has never thought of having one so I’m glad Diono thought of it for her.

The Diono Radian RXT has a 12-position adjustable headrest with reinforced sidewalls and it is super easy to adjust. It is lined with EPS foam and energy-absorbing harness system for added safety. The reinforced adjustable head support provides additional side impact protection.

This has a full steel frame and aluminum reinforced sides for unmatched safety. That makes it one of the safest car seats on the road. When you have little ones you shouldn’t need to worry about their safety and having this Diono will put your worries to rest.

This has also been NCAP crash tested up to 80lbs, the industry benchmark for verifying child seat performance in severe accident conditions. It’s good to know the weight of those crash tests because it does give you some reassurance that your little one would be safe in the event of a severe crash.

Installation with the LATCH system was super easy once again as most LATCH installs are. It can also be installed with your seat belts and also has a top tethering capability. With a low profile it makes getting into and out of the Diono Radian RXT super easy. The seat sides are also expandable so when I get bigger it grows with me.

I am really loving the Diono Radian RXT Convertible Car Seat and have to say that all the features just makes me love them more. It’s why for Child Passenger Safety Week Diono and their line of car seats gets my TWO TINY THUMBS UP!
