If you love Thomas The Train then you are going to love what I have to share with you next. I have watched countless Thomas and Friends videos and actually have a few trains myself, yet I was still excited to receive the brand new Thomas & Friends Take-n-Play Roaring Dino Run. The mommy opened the box that it came in I couldn’t take my eyes off of it. I pointed and actually took the box to mommy until she decided that she was going to set it up for me. She had originally said “tomorrow” but my persistence made her change her mind. Moral of this story is toddlers, keep at it, mommies and daddies usually change their minds if you bug them long enough.

Out of the packaging there wasn’t a lot to put together and the instructions were simple enough that mommy didn’t need help. Usually its daddy putting together my toys but mommy didn’t need help with this one. Not only were there worded instructions but there were simple photo instructions there too. Set up took less than ten minutes and then I was ready to play.

The Take-n-Play Roaring Dino Run comes complete with a Thomas the Train Die-Cast metal train and cargo car. All very much in the likeness of Thomas from the TV show. Your little one is going to love it. One thing that mommy and I loved as well was that it came complete with 2AA batteries. Don’t you just hate receiving a toy and upon opening the package there are no batteries included? If you have none on hand it may mean another couple of days before you can actually play. Fisher-Price thought of this problem and included the batteries for you.

Another great feature of Thomas and his cargo car is that there is a magnet that connects them and keeps them together. You can also purchase other take-n-play vehicles to make an even bigger train set. Thomas also makes a great collectors item for those who are into collecting Thomas train sets.

You may probably be wondering what the Roaring Dino Run is all about and how it works right? Well Thomas is on a trek to find fossil dinosaur bones for the Solar Museum. Its up to you to help him get them to the museum safely.  With his dino bones in his cargo car you help Thomas across the bridge. When you lift the bridge with Thomas you get to hear the Dinosaur that’s in the mountain roar and Thomas has to make his hasty escape. I loved helping Thomas over the bridge again and again. Now since Thomas is coming down the hill there are times that he completely gets off the track but that only made me giggle.

Once you are done playing it folds up very easily and you can take it with you by that nifty carry handle. There are also take-n-play fold out play sets that you can connect to this making it even bigger and much more fun.

Conclusion: This is a great toy for toddlers. We love the portability of the set that it folds up neatly for transport and storage. The vehicles are well made but be careful with little ones who like to throw things. Since it is made out of metal it will really hurt. Trust me, my big brother knows how it feels. I love that this connects to other play-n-go play-sets making it even bigger. Having the option for additional play-n-go vehicles is also another added plus.

I really enjoyed playing with the Thomas and Friends Take-n-Play Roaring Dino Run and while most people think its a toy for boys I totally disagree. It’s unisex and both boys and girls will enjoy this. After all girls just love Thomas too! It kept me engaged for at least an hour and that’s quality time that mommies and daddies can spend together uninterrupted while we play. The replay value on this toy is amazing and I surely recommend it.
