My 2yr Visit to the Dentist - Almost Wordless Wednesday

I haven't done an Almost Wordless Wednesday in quite some time. Yeah I can never go totally wordless like most people can. I love chatting and love to tell a little story with my photos. Today though I think that maybe I just can. After all how much can I really say about visiting the dentist? For those who have been with me for a while, you may remember I highlighted my fist visit to the dentist in a blog post.

My dentist has a really great waiting room that reminds me of home. Nice comfy couches and there's even a hot chocolate maker. Who doesn't love hot chocolate?

If your little one has never been to the dentist before, it's a great idea to introduce them to the dentist and get them all comfortable. No one likes being with a stranger, especially one who is going to be touching your mouth. My dentist had to actually count my teeth and she said that I had 20 beautiful healthy teeth. I was given my toothbrush at the beginning of my visit, getting me all comfortable.

Once she had counted and reassured me that my teeth were fine, it was time for a cleaning.

I was not afraid of the buzzing sound since she let me hear and touch it before it entered my mouth. That's the sign of a good kid dentist. They let you know what's coming so you're not afraid.

She was pretty gentle with me and I had the most amazingly cleaner teeth than what I walked into her office with.

Once my cleaning was over it was time to choose a toy. Now my dental office has a big toy box and you can choose whatever you want.

I decided I wanted a rose. After all what's better than a rose for nice little girl like me?

My dental visit was a blast and I have an appointment to see her again in six months.

How often do you or your little one visit the dentist and do you have fun while you're there?

  1. Hot chocolate! Sign me up.
    Your dentist looks nice, kiddo!
I actually have to go four times a year because my teeth and gums are situated very tightly so while I do have a nice straight smile (thanks, orthodontist) I'm at high risk for developing plaque. So going every three months keeps that at bay and I'm in a very healthy spot right now!
Des comes to watch Scarlet go to the dentist. He still has to grow some teeth so we haven't taken him for his own appointment yet, but making him comfortable there is key.

  2. I worked really hard to find an amazing dentist for my children. I got really lucky and found one in Florida when I lived there and my son loved him so much he would be the best patient. I really miss that dentist more than I miss the rest of Florida.

  3. It looks like she did a really good job! My oldest did just fine at the dentist, but my little man flipped out during his first three or four visits. It was very nerve wracking, so you are lucky she did such a good job :)

  4. My oldest had his first dental visit at 10 months, which was the recommended "within six months of first tooth eruption." He got his first two teeth at 4 months. My 5yo had her first visit at one year. My youngest will have her first visit next month, a week after her first birthday. We know the importance of great oral care.

  5. I'm late to see my dentist. I dread going. You're great for sitting so well.

  6. AWWWW, so sweet! My oldest loves going to the dentist. This reminds me that my littlest needs to go for her first dental check up very soon. Good job Madison... you look like the perfect patient.

    Thanks for sharing!

  7. I take my daughters to the dentist every 6 months. They started going the same age like your daughter. Their experience wasn't that good at first.

  8. She looks like she did great! Go Madison!! :) Tyler does very well at the dentist too. I always worry that he is going to act up or something, and he surprises me every time.

  10. Seriously, I can never be completely silent either and probably why I don't do Wordless Wednesday much either anymore. But seriously, hot chocolate? I gave it up for Lent believe it orb not, but after it could you sign me up for a visit :)

  11. My kids go to the dentist x2 a year for the routine cleanings, and special appointments like sealants and whatnot are additional appointments. My children detest the dentists office which makes it a very unpleasant experience overall for everyone involved.

  12. Every six months like clockwork! They have their mom's bad genes, so we have to stay ahead of the game!

  13. My guys are pretty brave at the dentist. We've been lucky to have mostly positive experiences with pediatric dentists!

  14. I took my kids every six months as well, and the toy box at the end was always a treat. However, your dentist has super neat things for them to choose from!

  15. It is so good to get them used to the dentist when they are really young. It seems to make it a little easier when they get older.

  16. This looks like a fantastic dentist! My daughter went to one like this when she was young, and it helped her not be scared to go to the dentist.

  17. Oh you were such a brave little girl for the dentist! way to go Madison!
My daughter; she really doesn't do well at the dentist. But thankfully we have an amazing dentist who is really good with her.

  18. Its really neat that your dentist lets you back there with the kids. Not my dentist! In all honesty, it works better that way for my girls, though...

  20. Our dentist is boring. He does an amazing job but unfortunately no fun for the kids.

  21. What a big girl, going to the dentist. We were lucky back home before we moved. The dentist we used for the kids when it was a first appointment actually came out to the waiting room and played with them before we headed back for the exam. He wanted them to realize he was not something to be afraid of. I thought that was the greatest thing ever and I wish we could have brought him on our move with us!

  22. It's so important for children to learn good oral hygiene from an early age. It will help to develop good habits.

  24. Looks like you found a great dental office. Love the toy box at the end where you get to select. I go to the dentist every 3 months for teeth cleaning because I am a big girl with big problems, LOL. My adults sons have wonderful healthy teeth and only need to go every 6 months.

  25. She looks so much at ease in the chair. She is definitely an all around sweet girl. I wouldn't say we had fun at the dentist, but my kids are usually calm

  26. I never went to the dentist until I got my first cavity at 18 years old. I think not knowing what it was all about is one of the reasons why I I'm still terrified of it today!

  27. Aww looks like y'all have a great dentist! My kids did not like the dentist when they were younger My middle one still doesn't but I think he gets that fear from me :(

  28. Great job at the dentist! You look like you have a great dentist to visit too!! (That makes SO much of a difference!)

  29. That toy box is such a great idea! My dentist had Barbie stickers, and I liked going because as a collector of stickers, he was the only person I knew who had these. After him, I hated going to any other dentist. :p

  30. I am still searching for a dentist now that we live in Florida, so I am behind a few months.

  33. Way to go Madison! My 8-year-old just went today and it took 25 minutes for him to let the dentist in his mouth! You did fantastic!

  34. When my daughter was younger I was militant about her oral hygiene. As she has gotten older it has been not quite as easy for me to monitor. I will keep trying. Gotta protect that smile.

  35. Good job at the dentist!! I have to drag the kids to the dentist. lol

  36. A hot chocolate maker at the dentist? That would almost make you want to go just for fun!

  44. It is a really good idea to take your kids to visit and get to know their dentist before setting them up with an appointment. That would be such a great way to be able to make sure that they are comfortable for their first trip to the dentist. You really want to try to make their first check up as pleasant as possible so that they won't be afraid of going back. It is also a really good idea to make sure that the dentist's office has a comfy and homey environment.
