Little Tikes Lean To Turn Scooter - Review

Disclaimer: I received a product from Little Tikes  for review purposes. No other compensation was received. Though the product was free, opinions are 100% my very own.

I am a big fan of Little Tikes. Quite a few of my toys including my outdoor swing were made by the company. I love the outdoors and we have been having great weather the past few days. There is nothing better than being outdoors with the sun shining on your face. Not having to be bundled up in winter jackets and running around. It's one of the reason why I am loving the weather we are having and I can't wait for summer to get here. Little Tikes knowing that I love being adventurous decided to send me their Lean to Turn Scooter and I couldn't have been happier.

The Little Tikes Lean to Turn Scooter is for children ages 2-4 and I received it in the Green version. It is also available in blue, orange and pink. Packaging as you can see from the box below isn't huge and doesn't need a lot for you to set it up. There is a weight limit of 44lbs on the Lean to Turn Scooter so be careful of the weight of your child when purchasing.

Usually mommy has daddy set up all my outdoor toys. This one only came with two parts that needed to be put together. The base and the handlebars just needed to be put together. The screw and allen key was all that was needed and was supplied of course. It took mommy less than 5 minutes to get it done.

Once set up it was all ready to go. Nothing else is needed besides your helmet of course. Always remember helmet safety no matter what you ride!

Features:

Two Front Wheels:

Since this is a beginner scooter for your little one, Little Tikes made this with two front wheels instead of the usual one that the bigger kids ride. This gives us stability and helps us stay on the ground instead of on the floor. Trust me I know what the floor feels like by trying to ride my bigger brothers scooter.

Wide Base:

I loved the extra wide base which offers stability whenever I ride. It also offers a lot more control for when I do lean to steer which is perfect for the beginner riders. The base is also low to the ground so we do feel safer. The base also has little grips so it's not smooth which means that I won't be sliding around while riding as well.

Back Brake:

The wheel on the back comes with a wheel fender that your little one can put their foot on to come to a safer stop. This is the back brake and while your little one may not get the hang of it at the beginning, with regular use they'll quickly figure it out just like I did.

Easy Grip Handlebars:

The handlebars are easy to grip and also easy to steer. They are not adjustable which is a con since I am pretty tall for my age being 35 inches in height. While this is for ages 2-4, I'm not sure if I'll be able to use it when I get to be 4 years old because of the inability to adjust the height.

How to operate:

This is very simple to use and your little one will get the hang of it very easily. While the bigger kids scooters need you to actually turn the handlebars to steer, just a little lean of your body enables your little one to go in the direction that they need to go. Having a low deck helps those that are scared of being too high off the ground. They would love being like the big kids, but on three wheels instead of two.

Final impression?

The Little Tikes Lean to Turn Scooter teaches your little one balance and coordination and is very easy to use. The back brake is an added plus and also like the big kids helps your little one come to a safe stop when riding. The 44 pound weight limit isn't that bad but did wish it was also a bit higher. While I love the Little Tikes Lean to Turn Scooter, I do wish that the handlebars was adjustable. That would make it last even longer just in case I decide to gain a little extra height before the age limit is up. Besides that this is a great first scooter for your little one and it gets my TWO TINY THUMBS UP

Little Tikes is a leader when it comes to toys for your little one and I recommend them highly. Here are the ways to connect with Little Tikes:

  1. This is an amazing product! I wish I had known about this when my boys were learning to ride a scooter. It would have saved a few skinned knees. I need to tell my sisters in law with little ones about this!

  8. We have one similar to this and bought it because my son is not old enough to balance a scooter yet. I love that they came out with these for the little ones, they want to do the things their older siblings do and us parents want them to do it without getting hurt.

  40. This is really cute. I love the bright colors. The two front wheels is a definite bonus over the typical razor scooter. I worry a lot when I see kids riding these things because they just don't look that safe to me.
